Shopping trolley disposal
I have a couple of old shopping trolleys I want to throw out. But it's not a question of just leaving them out for the bin men - I might be accused of fly tipping or something. I don't think they accept loose items any more. Or do they?
Not urgent, but I'd like to get it sorted. Ideas?

Re: Shopping trolley disposal
Why and how have you got shopping trolleys
My local council have abandoned trolleys on their online report form. If you don't have that then fire off an email to your local councils switchboard.

Re: Shopping trolley disposal
I assume we're not talking about supermarket trolleys.
Going to depend on the local council. Can they be dismantled enough to fit in the rubbish bins? Do they come under large items, where for a fee the council will collect them? I used the local council scheme to get rid of an old mattress that had been replaced.

Re: Shopping trolley disposal
If they still work let a charity shop have them

Re: Shopping trolley disposal
I bought them, you cheeky beggar!
As to why, it saves me carrying bags - a major effort now. But I can wheel them fine. No, they're not supermarket trolleys.
Fit them in the bins? Mmm...not sure they'll take them. I'll make inquiries. I just want to dispose of them legitimately.

Was joking about it being stolen but if I see someone walking to their house with a shopping trolley I assume it was a store trolley because I didn't know you could buy them. At my Tesco you can't take them out the carpark because the wheels will lock.

Re: Shopping trolley disposal
Buy yourself a pushbike, convert the shopping trolleys to pannier bags

Re: Shopping trolley disposal
Put anything containing metal near your front gate, and the metal fairies will magically appear and make it all disappear.

True that, if you ring the council it's a month minimum until they can collect and dispose of it . . 3 days later some blokes turn up in a scruffy white van and have it away, no questions asked . . . free enterprise
