Has the network icon changed in the notification area? I've got a wired ethernet icon for a wireless connection there's no VPN installed on the machine.

Nope. That kit isn't that smart. Windows on the other hand has a mind of its own.

Re: Windows 11 25H2 officially released

If you are on e25H2, there is a new setting in

Settings
Privacy & Security

Scroll to the bottom and there is

Text and Image Generation

You may wish to turn it off...

As of yet, Microsoft have a habit of deploying an update that does not start being used at first but they will once the heat is off. You can bet that if you turn it off and then there is an update the update will turn it back on.

If there is AI in Windows, I want it to be my choice to use it, rather than it being on by default.

This is the basis of a common argument I have with a lot of people in IT.

By making the choice to use Windows you are choosing to abide my M$s EULA and M$ because they license and not sell the software has the right to implement any clause they see fit. For example Recall AI and Logging in with a M$ account

Now most of these implementations can be circumvented , even in the new preview installs you can run a script that still allows local log in for now. Recall can be removed and AI has settings so far that can be turned off . And I am sure the same methods to remove aspects of a windows install will still be available for AI also .

I do totally agree with you but also accept by choosing Windows I also have to accept that includes Microsoft and what they want

Yeah but the feature changes are available and all of them are tested in the preview channels. I follow Chris Titus on Youtube he is pretty much all over these changes and has tutorials on how to build your own Windows ISO removing all the features you do not want. Personally the only issue I have is Recall and it is not actually activated on none Co Pilot PCs yet but it can be removed building your own ISO

Re: Windows 11 25H2 officially released

Something else Microspy decided to turn on and force onto people without notice etc.

https://wccftech.com/microsoft-train...u-turn-it-off/

If you want to turn it off, this is how you can do it as the information in the article is not correct about turning it off.

This is how I managed to turn it off:

1: Press "Windows Key + G"

2: If it comes up with "Gaming Co-Pilot" as a "Window" then on the left side of the "Gaming Co-Pilot" windows click "Settings"

3: Click "Privacy Settings" and in there you can disable it all

Now if it doesn't come up with "Gaming Co-Pilot", on the top you will see a bar which has buttons for "Friends, Audio, Capture, Performance" on that bar to the left hand side of it, you will see a block of 3x3 dots, click that and click on "Gaming Co-Pilot" if it's there and then go to part 3 above.

I am not sure if this is only available if you use the "Game Bar" and have an account signed in for "Xbox" or if it's available for all, also I am not sure if this is a "25H2" feature or not, so if you have not updated to "25H2" you may not have it.
