Plastic room ?
Am going to refit a bathroom , surveyor is talking about vinyl walls. Look cheap and nasty to me. However I haven't really looked that closely at them. Anyone got them ? If so honest comments welcome

Re: Plastic room ?
My aunty just had her bathroom refitted. She went for wall panels. She likes it but to me it just feels cheap. A proper tile and paint job cannot be beaten in my opinion. This isn't exactly what you want to read but hey it's my two cents worth.
The bathroom generally gets steamy then all sorts of issues occur unless you have very good ventilation. Damp spots paint pealing, pink spots from damp. Your biggest enemy is damp. Figure out what you want considering that factor.

Vinyl walls as in vinyl wallpaper or tiling? Or solid sheets?

That's what I am thinking. Somehow it's not right for the age of the house 1900s

Does it work out cheaper, the wall hung junk? Also is it cladding? I know Trumbo said a person in a bath is not effected by a house fire but come on you'll be too close for comfort

Unless you plan to drown, I'm pretty sure you would be affected.
I've seen a "plastic" bathroom, didnt think much of it, had mine tiled.

Told its cheaper, but think that's down to labour. It's not an issue. Just feel it looks nasty. But only seen samples, gut feeling says no.

Re: Plastic room ?
I have replaced several plastic bath sides for people who soon fell out of love for them. "Modern" doesn't always mean better. Whilst swapping them for wooden panels, I was shocked at the state of their "modern" plastic baths that they were assured would last 20 years, but only if scouring powder was never used on them.

Re: Plastic room ?
Had two quotes , £26,200 & £ 25,950. Both said panels would be cheaper and quicker. One pushed them other was if you really want them be he wouldn't . So that's a no!

My new neighbour just renovated their kitchen and bathroom, painted the whole house and fitted a new cheap boiler all for £14K. It may only be a 2 bed house and they didn't fit everything themselves but 26K is highway robbery isn't it?
