Lastpass FREE will only be available on 1 type of device from March 16th 2021

LastPass FREE has pretty much just killed itself off.

From March 16th FREE users can either use it on mobile devices or Computers but not both at the same time without paying for Premium which pretty much screws everyone.

So I'm looking for a free alternative that I can use on desktop and mobile devices that supports fingerprint log in, any suggestions please?

That's a good idea, hopefully the Lastpass authenticator will still work as I use that to log on to desktop Lastpass.

Yes, I started using it on my main PC a month ago, to trial it.

I was able to import all my lastpass info, and so far its working just great.

I know it does to Bitwarden not tried it yet, if the authenticator still works on a free account for PC I think I will just create a second account for mobile and import into that.

Bitwardens working extremely well on Desktop and Android phone and extremely easy to import from Lastpass, it even works with Vivaldi Android Browser where Lastpass didn't. It also looks like i can use the Google Authenticator for a two-step Login on the free version.

So for me i believe it is bye bye Lastpass and hello Bitwarden.

As previously posted, Im testing Bitwarden, and may move to it permanantly.

It works great on the browsers that Lastpass used to have a hissy fit with on my smart phone and on Desktop no issues there.

I was paying for LastPass anyway for the extra features. Just upgraded to LastPass families so the rest of household get the benefits. Not hugely expensive.


LastPass works so much better in iOS than Android though.

I'm finding Bitwarden works far better for me on mobile browsers, the only inconvenience is i have to click the icon on a desktop browser to fill in the info but thats not really bad.

Been using Bitwarden for a couple of years now (after leaving LastPass) and definitely like it.

There are some shortcuts you can use (depending on the browser/OS) to auto-fill this without clicking, I copied them below in case it helps someone!

On Windows: Ctrl + Shift + L
On macOS: Cmd + Shift + L
On Linux: Ctrl + Shift + L
Safari: Cmd + \ or Cmd + 8 or Cmd + Shift + P

I still have my free lastpass, I only ever use it on PC's so that actual change is somewhat irrelevant to me.

However, Ive been testing Bitwarden for a while now, and do like it, so I'll probably migrate over completely at some point.
