		| Gavin Williamson was personally told in JULY that the exam grade system was flawed but carried on anyway - as minister insists algorithm did NOT unfairly downgrade poorer pupils despite it being scrapped...
... Sir Jon is also reported to have written to Mr Williamson, the Education Secretary, in July to warn that the Ofqual algorithm, would only be 75 per cent accurate at best when applied to GCSE and A-Level grading.

In his letter Sir Jon also said that using predicted grades for some small groups of students while using the algorithm for large groups would cause unfairness.

		| Quote from The Sun: Shamed Ofqual boss Sally Collier tonight sensationally quit over the A Levels fiasco - but she could keep a plumb job at the Cabinet Office.
The bungling bureaucrat walked the plank after wrecking exams day for hundreds of thousands of students.

She decided to quit her £200,000 a year job “by mutual agreement” with the Ofqual board.

But The Sun understands she can still keep a lucrative post in the Cabinet Office despite the total shambles.

A Cabinet Office spokesman said: "Sally is a substantive civil servant and as such is able to return to a job within the Civil Service."

Something similar happened to me when I went for an IT Director’s position at a University - I was recommended for the position after a gruelling interview process, but I had to meet the Vice-Chancellor, and be approved by him (did he think I would fit in with him, his Senior Team, and the Uni’s "culture"?*).

Same thing happened when I contracted at another Uni as Head of IT Systems Development - after selection, I had to meet the Chief Operating Officer for approval.

In both cases, they had vetoed other candidates, and they had restart the recruitment cycle.

What the stats are for OfQual and it’s ilk, I don’t know, but I would imagine it’s the same process, otherwise you are just wasting the Minister’s time for a box ticking exercise...

*I got the job...
