Re: What have you just bought?
A productive visit to Marks and Spencers. £2 pair of jeans (reduced from £30) and £5 cotton shirt (reduced from £25). Almost giving stuff away atm, must be desperate times for them; the pensioners were fighting in the aisles over cheap cardigans

Re: What have you just bought?
Bottle of Highland Park Viking Honour 12YO Single Malt, and 3 bottles of Red (Shiraz, Burgundy, and Pinot Noir).
My two brothers-in-law are arriving this afternoon (one from Connecticut and one from Hampshire), so want to be well prepared for after dinner drinks.

Re: What have you just bought?
A PATA (IDE) to dual SATA adapter board. The PCI card that I tried doesn't do DMA* whereas this arrangement will. That's vital to be able to play large (>10 GByte) HD video files without stuttering using the media server.
Now works a treat.
*Direct Memory Access: A method of data transfer that bypasses the CPU and is fast.
