SH3 Worse Connection Quality?
I installed my SH3 this evening and while my speeds have increased very slightly, my connection quality has suffered:
Anyone else had this? The red bar is when the connection was offline while the new Hub activated, to the left is my SH2ac. Both are in modem mode connected to my ASUS RT-N66U.

Re: SH3 Worse Connection Quality?
Exactly, and that is by no means an exception (although it is his excuse for coming bottom in l4d every week )

Re: SH3 Worse Connection Quality?
Just has "Jason" from VM phone me up and offer me a free SH 3 on the proviso I take the homeworks package reduced from £9.99 to £7.99. "The Superb 3 is designed for your 200 meg package sir and you will not get the best speed without it..." Oh really...? Took 15 mins of banging me head against a brick wall to convince the guy I wanted to retain my SH 2 in modem mode with a proper wifi router and not to change my package. Talk about hard sell.

Yeah! And, if you ever take on an SH3 they will never let you go back. Hang onto your SH2s!!

Re: SH3 Worse Connection Quality?
The Hub 3 is fine. The ICMP picture in the BQM, being low priority traffic, does not reflect the latency of proper data.

Re: SH3 Worse Connection Quality?
My experience with the Hub3!
(all my power levels are perfect and its setup properly)
GeForceNow = Jittery Blocky mess @ 25mbps via network test!
InModemMode with EA6700
GeForceNow = Smooth as Silk, 1080p/60fps @ 50mbps (constant) via network test

Something a lot of folk don't consider. They normally don't understand tracert's either.

Re: SH3 Worse Connection Quality?
Have a look at the scale on the graph.

Re: SH3 Worse Connection Quality?
Why did the graph change immediately after switching to the SH3? Is it the Hub itself that's treating it as low priority traffic?

Although I've asked behind the scenes about that, VM have never graced me with an answer. Modem mode is indeed the acid test when comparing SH2ac with the Hub 3 since it is the router that is responding to the pings. Ergo, the high maxima shown in the BQM must be something the modem is doing.
One theory advanced by Legacy1 in the VM forums is that the Intel-ATOM processor within the Puma-6 package goes into a sleep state via ACPI. It's logical but unlikely because the CPU, unless totally misconfigured, would not get the chance to go to sleep.
The other theory is that at low level, there is diagnostic code running in the Hub 3. We saw something like that in the early SH2 and SH2 days.
One needs to bear in mind that it is the average latency that matters (the blkue line). You could have just one spike in a BQM window, and that accounts for the yellow portion. If latency was high all the time, then the avergae latency would reflect that.
