Until recently every episode of Game of Throwns was on Now TV and you could have watched them all free with a 14-day trial. However, at the end of each series, HBO removes them to encourage sales of the boxsets and the episodes of the last series stay around for 30 days each before being removed. Before and during Series 7, I'm sure they'll all be back up there.

HBO Nordic, and I assume HBO Now leave GOT, and all other HBO shows, on all the time. Sky paid HBO masses of money for a limited rights window.

Due to the Sky deal, HBO Now can not launch in the UK. Not ideal for UK consumers.

It will be horses for coursers. Someone posted a link to the new box and there seemed to be several options, but unless you need another non recordable terrestrial Freeview box, the current black £15 box seems all that is needed for a Virgin subscriber. But check it out for your personal requirements.

I think two advantages are:
1) It is 50Hz output compared to the 60Hz output of the older Now TV boxes. This should produce smoother pictures.
2) It has a Freeview EPG together with the pay-TV channels. The channels can be paused for 30 minutes; the current boxes don't have the pause facility and a more limited EPG.

Pause only applies to live Freeview channels. Why would anyone with a Tivo need that?

Some people have problems with lack of 50hz. Both of my TVs running the current 60HZ box don't suffer from any problems. It is a case though that each persons results will vary.

What is the price difference between the current black box and the new one?

My mistake - I thought all channels were pausable mot just the Freeview channels.

At the moment the current box is £15 (though there are deals that make it virtually free) and the new box is £40. If you can't pause the pay-TV channels then I can't see many advantages to a TIvo customer in having the newer box.

Setanta Sports in Ireland has now rebranded to Eir Sport. Setanta Sports Ireland is now Eir Sport 1 whilst Setanta Sports 1 is now Eir Sport 2.

The only two businesses remaining under the Setanta Sports brand are Setanta Sports Eurasia and Setanta Sports Asia. Setanta Sports Eurasia is still Irish-owned whilst Setanta Sports Asia is owned by Discovery. I guess it's likely that Discovery would merge it with its Eurosport brand in the future.

Premier Sports which shared its satellite stream with Setanta Sports 1 will presumably share its satellite stream with Eir Sport 2.

Following a cull of channels recently it looks like Premier Sports is next to get the chop from Talk Talk. Premier Sports tweeted earlier today to confirm they won't be available on the Talk Talk platform in the near future.

Whenever their sales people harrass you in the shopping centres they only ever push their broadband service and don't tend to mention the tv side unless you mention it.

To be fair to TalkTalk, they added BT Sport this year and Premier Sports is a pretty niche channel. They know they can't compete with VM and Sky on the TV front but they do have the Sky channels except Atlantic, though some will baulk at their only being in SD.

I did say that some will have problems with the channels being in SD. Equally, others will be happy to make the savings over VM or Sky and accept them in SD.
