One of the problems of relying purely on streaming is the point I made here

Until all streaming services start to keep back episodes and seasons, there will still be a requirement for linear channels and a PVR.

just hope full that virgin can secure some 4k content. bt/sky 4k channel on virgin not likely but 4k is still new so maybe virgin are negotiations for 4k content.perhaps the planets will line up and both sky/bt will allow their 4k channels on virginmedia.fingers crossed

Well defo the current TiVo would struggle if a software update was planned but I think it will be planned into a future tivo

Do the current owners of LG, have some stake in the Discovery channel?
Maybe this relationship could bring some of the first 4K content to the new Tivo box, as I'm sure the Discovery Channel will have some 4K programmes of their own soon.

I think Liberty global do have a stake in Discovery networks, MB may be able to confirm this.
