Re: Unstoppable migration?

Quote:
Forecasts from the IMF, the economic watchdog, said 1.3 million people could flock to the Continent every year between 2015 and 2017.

That revised influx is bigger than the population of Berlin.

The warning came as EU chiefs were blasted for threatening to unleash tens of thousands of migrants on to Britain’s borders in Calais.

And it emerged Britain may be banned from deporting asylum seekers back to Europe, unless we take more refugees flooding into the EU.

Britain could be booted out of the Dublin Convention which allows countries to send asylum seekers back to their “first country of arrival”.

Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond admitted the Government was “very concerned” about the proposals.

And livid Eurosceptics said it proved Britain was powerless to control its own borders if it remains in the EU.
Linky

Now it really starts.

Still a gift to the leave campaigners.

Re: Unstoppable migration?

Another way of looking at immigration is.......

Consumerism, if your at the top of the tree, a business leader, ect then a few million more people to come and visit your shops, buy your TV's , buy your cars, rent your houses, pay taxes whilst producing all the above on very low wages then you're not going to be against it, are you?

I mean such people won't really have to live amoungst immigrants/asylum seekers will they? But hey will get rich(er) off them.

Re: Unstoppable migration?

Yes, the well heeled are very effectively insulated from the effects of mass uncontrolled migration whether in terms of where they live/holiday, where their children go to school and even where they choose to have medical care (albeit not emergency cover). Can you imagine the fuss if all the affluent areas in which these people reside were required to accommodate a certain number of properties for refugees, the needy etc? From what I can see, gated housing and even estates have never been more popular and I don't see much evidence that the celebrity/'do-gooder' elite actually practice much of what they preach.

But now it’s not just me saying it. This week the Government’s own Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has admitted the truth.

Countless British workers, especially in the public sector, have seen their wages cut as a consequence of cheap, immigrant labour from outside the European Union. Teachers, nurses, doctors and the like.

The new arrivals will work for three-quarters of nowt — and so the wage rates drop. We knew this.

It’s decent of the MAC to confirm it, so many thanks. It confirms the points made in a House of Lords report nearly three years ago.

And it confirms what you probably noticed yourself. It’s nice when the authorities catch up, isn’t it?

Re: Unstoppable migration?

Yes well if they told the truth upfront there'd be riots so they prefer to mislead people into thinking it'll all be ok and brand anyone who dares to voice their concerns. Of course they can't get away with that tactic forever - as we're now all seeing - but by then they've got their way and the result is a fait accompli...

Whether it's large scale gerrymandering/social engineering by the likes of Labour or the Tories looking after the interests of big business and trying to raise GDP, the result for the ordinary man in the street is the same and it's their lives, neighbourhoods, jobs, wages and prospects which suffer.

Re: Unstoppable migration?

Quote:
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls has warned that Europe's migration crisis is putting the EU at grave risk.

Mr Valls told the BBC Europe could not take all the refugees fleeing what he called terrible wars in Iraq or Syria.

"Otherwise," he said, "our societies will be totally destabilised."
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-35375303

Well if the protracted dithering and chaos we've seen over the last year or two is how the EU reacts to such 'grave risk' I think that says a lot about how unfit for purpose the EU is when it comes to such basics as border security and managing migration.

Those of us who who've been predicting problems like this for years won't be surprised by words such as this but will the Eurocrats actually come up with a credible plan for dealing with the 'grave' threat before millions more have arrived?...

Meanwhile in Finland they're teaching migrants how to behave:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-35353310

Quote:
Migrants arriving in Finland are being offered classes on Finnish values and how to behave towards women. Concerned about a rise in the number of sexual assaults in the country, the government wants to make sure that people from very conservative cultures know what to expect in their new home.
I noticed the word 'offering' - wonder how many are taking up the offer and are willing to be 'educated'...

Quote:
And that's why these classes are backed by the interior ministry and the police. Last autumn three asylum seekers were convicted of rape in Finland, and at the new year there was a series of sexual assaults and harassments similar to those in Cologne and Stockholm. Victims reported that the perpetrators were of Middle Eastern appearance - something Helsinki's deputy chief of police, Ilkka Koskimaki decided to go public with.

"It's difficult to talk about," he admits as we drive in a patrol car through the icy streets of the city. "But we have to tell the truth. Usually we would not reveal the ethnic background of a suspect, but these incidents, where groups of young foreign men," as he puts it, "surround a girl in a public place and harass her have become a phenomenon."
Quote:
...The lesson at Raasepoori reception centre is drawing to a close and the asylum seekers have been given optional homework to help them read up on Finland's sexual equality laws. As we leave the class, an Iraqi man in a colourful bomber jacket shakes my hand.

"It's great in Finland," he says "But when I marry, my wife will be a housekeeper who will cook the food I like - and she certainly won't go to discos."
... and in Germany:

Quote:
"I understand that refugees need somewhere safe to go but Germany can't save the world by itself.

"Hopefully this nightmare will soon be over - for them and for us. Then they'll be able to go back to their own homes. And leave ours for good."

It is a journalistic cliché to quote your taxi driver but East German Alexander in his smart Mercedes summed up perfectly the pervading mood in his country.

So I can't ignore him.

He, like most Germans, according to a recent poll by the public broadcaster ZDF, thinks the country cannot cope with the huge amount of refugees and other migrants who have arrived over the last year...

... "People are coming to Germany with fake IDs or no papers at all, saying they are refugees. We have no idea who they really are. Many Germans feel it's a ticking time bomb.
"The people who came to our shop used to be young men but now we have a lot of female customers and older people too. We normally offer a choice of 15 different types of pepper sprays for example. Now we've sold out and so have our suppliers."

Maybe that's what happens when our glorious leaders and even those we look to for protection are economical with the truth.

This sort of trouble was perfectly predictable given the influx of huge numbers of testosterone filled and desperate young men but it seems admitting that probability was just too much for the great and the good. Anyway it's a confirmed fact now that even they can't deny and maybe that's why they seem to be conspicuous by their absence in this EU wide debate now.

Re: Unstoppable migration?

Quote:
GERMANY has lost track of more than half of its one million asylum seekers.

Government statistics show German authorities registered 1.1million applications in 2015, but cannot account for 600,000 of the migrants under its EASY system.

Officials say the alarming figures could be down to refugees leaving for another EU country or reregistering if they are unhappy with where they have been sent.
Linky

Utter shambles.

They're on their way here no doubt.

Re: Unstoppable migration?

Quelle surprise!

I reckon the German 'Easy' system must have been designed by the same people who did the UK's 'eBorders' programme and look how effective that was...

Does anyone really need any more evidence that the lunatics are running the Euro asylum? They don't have a clue what's going on or what to do about it and meanwhile countless thousands are heading this way willing to take their chances with a leaky boat and the Med. in order to grab their Euro 'welcome'.

Re: Unstoppable migration?

So the Czech Republic loses a graduate and we get another overqualified person doing a fairly menial job. Those generous in work benefits have all too often been conveniently 'forgotten about' when we've been subjected to the usual 'tough talk' about what migrants coming here are entitled to.

Re: Unstoppable migration?

Just been listening to a debate on this on LBC. Thankfully most callers have grasped the enormity of this problem and where it's rapidly heading. Sadly there are still a few well intentioned but misguided people who bang on about the small percentage of the total EU population the current tranche of migrants represents etc. etc. What they refuse to acknowledge is that, unless we act, that small percentage will grow as ever more migrants come and sooner or later we'll have to say no. We could clear Turkey, Lebanon, Syria of migrants yet it wouldn't signal the end of the problem, rather it would send a signal to the countless millions left, all just as desperate and equally willing to take similarly extreme means by which to enter the EU, inspired by those who've already made it thorugh. This is incontrovertible. The only question is at what point do we have to say enough is enough? How much do we allow our way of life to be irreversibly affected before we do something or do we bite the bullet before the worst happens? Like it or not, that decision will have to be made and the measures required to prevent 'forced' migration will have to be severe. Frankly, I'd prefer it if we didn't wait for even more of the world's needy to decide to start heading our way because once on the move they're not going to be easily dealt with.

To those who dispute the need to do anything (the let them all in brigade) despite the huge problems being experienced in numerous EU countries, I'd ask a) at what point they'd feel we'd done enough (1m migrants? 2m? 10m? 50m? 100m?) and b) what would they then suggest we do to prevent the rest of the world's poor turning up on our doorsteps demanding a better life. I won't be holding my breath waiting for any sensible answers, however. I've yet to hear any of these people even accept the basic premise because to do so would expose the fatal flaw in their argument.

I dare say there were those who, in the run up to WWII, refused to believe how serious things were getting because their towns weren't being razed to the ground. Head in the sad mentality. Right now there are millions of migrants either already within the EU or trying to knock the doors down. We in the UK are not at the very sharp end yet but then, the Germans weren't really either until Merkel opened her mouth. They now know what people here should be aware of. If we don't stop this flood of migrants it will become a deluge and there'll be no stopping it.
