Well no actually I'm not (but would love own a parrot ).

The only reason I have 150mb is because it works out cheaper on my package for some weird VM pricing reason. I'd be quite happy with 10/20 mb; 150mb has made no difference to browsing/streaming/shopping which the majority of people just do.

My point is that ISPs offering these speeds and bragging about how fast films/ music can be downloaded are all but enticing customers . If they wanted to stop illegal downloads they could. They've been less than helpful when copyrite holders have tried to bring people to account, and its taken court action to make them comply.

They really couldn't

I suspect the Information Commissioner would take a rather dim view of ISPs handing their subscribers' personal details out without a court order. Were an ISP to provide my details to a 3rd party without my consent or compulsion through the courts I would take them to the cleaners.

I have a strong suspicion if ISPs started trying to prevent their customers from downloading content through technical means they would be giving up their carrier protections and could then be held responsible for the actions of their users in this regard should they fail.

IANAL though.
