Agreed a replacement is now needed , all its main competitors offer routers with the latest features.

The Sky hub doesn't offer dual band.

Re: £5 a month off if you agree to extend your contract.

We've been out of contract for a while but it would need a better discount than that to get us shackled back in. Free line rental for example.

If you think you are going to get free line rental old boy then you are living on Planet Zarg.

To me and many others that's pretty unfair on the loyal customer IMO.

It's the world we live in today Den; bartering! I'm not really keen on it myself.

But as a long term customer, I feel I have the right to point that out, and ask if there is any discount available because of it; and I usually get some discount (not in the line rental price region, but then I don't have pay TV) I never threaten to leave or use any such tactics.

Do you not get any loyalty discount at all Den?

When i recently moved to standalone broadband i got offered a free phone line with weeknd calls and £1.75 a mnth as well off my standalone broadband price if i took the phone as well as the broadband.. i declined as i was adamant that i only wanted bb from vm ..

But they do offer free phones lines/rental and give you a couple of quid as well when you tell them you dont want/need phone from them anymore .

i do agree with you though the system seams to be very unfair . there should be set prices for each package and a loyality discount applied after 4 years as an example

We get a small loyalty discount but nothing like some.

We are not jealous as such but we do think the strategy is unfair to the more loyal customer in our book but we certainly won't be moving as we have always had bar one or two faults over the years a very good service.

Probably Sky's version of the Foxtel IQ3, with 4k support, coming soon. They share a lot of hardware.

In my experience, it's more costly to reduce VM services. I wanted to remove TV but VM said it would cost me more because I would lose my loyalty discount. I suspect that's a lie but you get a different answer from each VM CSA. They want you on a bundle because they can rake in more on costly calls and that the minimum TV package has less channels than Freeview, so to get a decent selection you have to pay more.

I suspect it's also to make the TV subscription figures look better. And they probably hope that you will spot a show on the EPG that will tempt you to up your subscription.

Personally, I don't care what the reason is; the free M TV deal works well for me.

Can I ask how you managed to get onto the M package? If I decide to take a TiVo i'd want to downgrade to M. After looking on the VM website, the lowest option is M+ and, IIRC, the M pack is no longer advertised and now mainly used as a retention tool.
