How can you state with such confidence that subscriptions would outweigh development and support costs? I can't say they won't but that's a hell of an assertion, especially as Now TV isn't on Tivo which would suggest it isn't worth it. Keep in mind, for it to be worthwhile the new subscriptions gained from users who have a TiVO but don't subscribe anyway would need to cover those costs.

As for Roku, Sky are a major investor in Roku, stands to reason they'd want their on demand service on a technology they invest in.

Also while the option to ditch VM and use an alternative does exist for your belief that a TiVO Now TV app would be a deal clincher for many to be true you'd have to have large swathes of TiVo users NOT subscribing to Now TV as it isn't on TiVO. Instead people are already subscribing to Now TV and VM, it's unlikely those people will be convinced enough by a TiVO Now TV app when making supplier decisions. What I'm saying is that in the grand sceme of things a Now TV app on TiVo just won't enough of an incentive for people...owing to the fact that there are options already and people are using them already.

Because 1. Sky part own ROKU.
2. ROKU is more widely available than VM TIVO.

Sky already gets subscription money on the VM platform through its wholesale deal.

By inserting keys, it has been possible to circumvent the encryption and identify the channel being shown.

This satellite is used for professional transmissions, such as to cable operators, as opposed to Direct To Home (DTH) use like Astra 28° East.

Given that a Now TV box costs fifteen quid and will be way faster than any implementation on Tivo, what is the point of adding it to Tivo?

And I know there is the 'want it all on one box' scenario, but if that is an issue, people could always replace their DVD/BLU-RAY player with an LG model that comes with Now TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime installed. The only caveat to that is that Amazon Prime is limited to stereo, which will only be an issue to those with surround equipment that decodes Dolby Digital+.

Yes, when the deal was done for BT Sport did it not include VM using their infrastructure to pipe large volumes of data for BT? This could also include video signal to local data centers.
