They throw in a few additional channels from TV L to TV XL, but it is mainly the additional decent HD channels that is the difference.

If I am a good customer of VM's with the XL pack and I also want Sky Atlantic, VM could help me by providing the ability to get Now TV on my box.

As it happens, I've had to buy a Roku stick to do just that.

It is true there is a lot of duplication on Now TV, but that isn't the point. The point is that it would allow you to stick with Virgin while also accessing Sky Atlantic.

Of course if you don't want to pay for duplicated services in this way, you could just move over to Sky, but that option is already available.

I am reasonably content to pay the extra €6.99 to get Sky Atlantic while remaining with Virgin.

It's simple to understand adding Now TV to Virgin Tivo benefits neither Sky or VM , VM already sells the bulk of Sky's content both linear and catch up in its packages why would it want it's customers having a direct customer relationship with Now TV (Sky).

Sky also makes money through wholesale deals for it's channels on VM , Now TV is a product aimed generally at Freeview homes for those users who don't want long term contracts.

You'd be better off buying the 3 month Entertainment passes for £14.99 (often available for less) and use it with your Roku stick.

It benefits VM because it lessens the desire by some to go over to Sky and it benefits Sky, who get additional income.

Additionally, if VM could boast a whole range of streaming services via its TIVO box, that would act as VM's unique selling point.

I'm not so sure about that. Plenty of VM customers will have purchased ad Now TV box or have access to Now TV but will not necessarily be paying the subs every month, rather dipping in and out. I'm more than happy to pay the monthly subscription for the duration of the series I want to watch.

That said I doubt that Now TV will make it's way to Tivo. Having it on Tivo is unlikely to be a reason for customer retention. In fact I'd bet that more people would ditch VM for Now TV/Freeview combo that would be convinced to stay.

As for Now TV themselves (ok Sky) there aren't really any disadvantages other than having to share a platform with Netflix but they wouldd have a development and support cost to consider. Would it be worth it to them? Only they will know but my guess is that until it becomes a worthwhile investment Now TV will not be coming to TiVo.

It would be worth it to Sky if the subscriptions they received outweighed the set up and maintenance costs, which of course they would. If it is worth it to have Now TV on the Roku, why not on the Tivo?
