Virgin Broadband Ebay Problems?

Is anyone else on Virgin Broadband having trouble with Ebay?

Since last Thursday when accessing My Ebay, viewing items sold and responding to customer messages we're seeing a lot of error in Chrome stating:

Quote:
No data received
ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE
Thinking its an Ebay issue i've contacted Ebay who say its a known issue for Virgin Broadband customers.

Not totally believing them I tried tethering to my mobile phone (Three's 4G) and sure enough Ebay works perfectly fine. Again Ebay appears to work fine on Vodafones 4g also.

We can replicate these Ebay problems on three different Virgin connections:

Office: Virgin Business Broadband 152meg, Google DNS
Home 1: Virgin Broadband 152meg, OpenDNS
Home 2: Virgin Broadband 152meg, Virgins DNS

It appears looking on the Virgin forums a few other people are having issues with Ebay: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...a/td-p/2909576 so i'm guessing Virgin are having some routing problems.

Virgin are secretly making 152Meg connections too slow to use Ebay to "encourage" people to upgrade to 300Meg.

You never know that conspiracy, could be true.
Anyway I thought the 300 Meg was a free upgrade?

Re: Virgin Broadband Ebay Problems?

It's been looked in to now. A ticket was logged with the Faults Management Centre who phoned me back say this had been passed on to the Core Network Team.

Theirs now a 10 page thread on the Virgin forums about the issue: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...n/td-p/2908987

To work around this for now i've setup another browser to tunnel traffic over SSH.

Thanks for the link InsaneNutter.

For those of us being effected by this problem VM have now allocated a fault ref. .... F003897191. I hope it gets sorted soon as it's getting on my nerves.
