Re: Has VM HQ been taken out by Putin?

Web browsing it slow and my Xbox One is running slow, both are wired.

Xbox One upload is: 3.85Mb but with Latency 283ms

Upload is normally around 11.xxMb and Latency is normally 1xxms on Xbox One, online is running really slow.
I am in the Lincoln area

Still totally dead here in Southampton. I have danced round my Shub thrice widdershins whilst sacrificing a chicken to the great Sir Clive (naked, of course [that' me naked, not Sir Clive, just to be clear {that' Sir Clive Sinclair I mean, just so there's no doubt}]) and still no joy. Can I interest anyone in putting together a wicker effigy of Babbage and sticking Branson in it (that's Charl... [SNIP! Ed.])?

Haven't had any problems this evening - Greater Manchester area. Someone said there was a fire somewhere at one of their places? Not sure how true it is as I would have thought it would have been picked up by media.

Re: Has VM HQ been taken out by Putin?

A high fibre count cable, most of which was in use, was cut by Openreach contractors in Gloucestershire. It handled a bunch of more local connectivity alongside regional and core links, one of which was between Cardiff and Birmingham.

The fibre was repaired: broken bit removed, new fibre installed and fusion spliced into existing fibre.

I'm sure VM will be investigating why the fibre break had such profound effects. There shouldn't be a single point of failure or a single place where a fibre cut can cause such issues however this happens to everyone from BT downwards. Records of fibre routes are imperfect.

Re: Has VM HQ been taken out by Putin?

it must have been a west side of the country thing. I am in the east and had no probs at all last night. I was gaming quite happily while all this was happening and didn't notice a thing.

West side? I'm dead in the centre of the south coast and I suffered all of the outage.Even so it is an unusual occurrence these days.
