Would you shop a member of your family in to the police?

Read THIS article just now on the Daily Fail site, in which a woman feels guilty for shopping her son to police after he mugged a 90 year old woman and whilst in prison he hung himself.

I'd like to think that I would shop someone in my family, but unless you are in that situation I don't think we can 100% say for certain what we would do if it was us in the situation.

I would like to add that I do feel sympathy for her, whilst her son was **** for mugging that 90 year old, no parent should have to bury their child.

Re: Would you shop a member of your family in to the police?

It would depend. If it's paedophillia then they get shopped no question. Tax evasion then good luck to them. It's all a question of degree?

Depends what their reason was for doing it imo, paedophilia, rape or mugging old ladies I think I would, probably not much else though, let's hope none of us are ever in the position where we'd find out what we would do

Re: Would you shop a member of your family in to the police?

I did think about having qualifying options for the yes but thought would leave as a broad yes or no. I agree actually, kiddy fiddling is not something I could keep quiet about, and even if it was someone I loved I would have to shop them.

Re: Would you shop a member of your family in to the police?

We all like to think we know what we'd do in a given situation, we probably all know what we ought to do too. But when it actually came down to it....that's a different story, I doubt anyone can say for sure.

I voted No, I was thinking of shoplifting, not mugging an OAP

A serious crime YES.

As for the **** bag mugging a 90 year old woman... The mother should not feel any guilt in jobbing him in.

Re: Would you shop a member of your family in to the police?

I have done, my ex brother in law was in a relationship with an alcoholic and drug user and they were both off their heads one day and he drove to our house and started causing problems because we wouldnt lend them money for drugs or booze and he he started getting physical and so i rang the police. Both went down for possession and intent to supply.

For serious crimes yep in a heartbeat drink driving again in a heartbeat shoplifting probably not but I'd make it clear if they kept doing it my position would change.
