Re: BBC apps updated on TiVo

The 'fast forward' is a bit weird on the i-Player. There are different speeds and it runs quite fast, but the picture remains paused while it happens and there is no indication of where you are in the process. You just have to guess how far into the programme you are, and when you press play you find out! Not sure if it's meant to work like this, it looks like work in progress to me!

The Netflix start up is still painfully slow!

Yes it is, to upload. However, once you are in, everything seems to work quite well.

Yes, thats how it works, as it did in the old version too.

It's because it's an internet stream so the fast forward actually just skips to the appropriate time point, rather than streaming the entire programme to the point you want

Netflix works the same way, they've just added some stills into it to help you work out where you are.

The old version of the BBC i-Player at least had a 'position bar' and so you knew roughly how far you had progressed into the programme.

With the new one, it is a total guesstimate!

It's still got a position marker.

Re: BBC apps updated on TiVo

I much prefer the new fast forward/rewind. Previously it jumped in random intervals starting from one minute and now it works as fast forward/rewind normally does.

Unfortunately still having some buffering issues in HD but it is better than before.

..because the latest BBC iPlayer is TV only?

There is a separate radio app from the BBC.
