All,

A new version of iplayer released today and doesn't seem to have the buffering problems of old. Try it out and see what your expeience is. Haven't seen any issue for me even watching in HD and I used to struggle with SD programs.

Re: BBC apps updated on TiVo

Well in my book this is a big improvement on what we had before in all aspects.

I gave up on BBC iplayer ages ago due to the stuttering. Will try again later.

Re: BBC apps updated on TiVo

Just gave BBC iplayer a go in HD and sadly I am still seeing the spinning circle every couple of minutes, so no improvement here . I will stick with samsung smart blueray player.

Re: BBC apps updated on TiVo

Yes these are the new HTML5 apps and so far seem to work a lot better and smoother.

Good news, thank you Ben. I will try it out later and I too hope that the stuttering problem is resolved.

I presume we also have the 30 days worth of catch up now.

Update

Just checked - all seems to work perfectly and no juddering on HD! Brilliant, I've missed not using the i-Player!

Try re-booting it. I've been having problems for ages and now it looks great, even in HD. Not a stutter to be had.

If that doesn't work, it might now be worth a call to CS.

Cheers Ben - tried it when I got home, took quite a bit longer to open the app (think the Tivo needs a reboot!) but yes...no buffering on HD - Yay!

G4DDS is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: BBC apps updated on TiVo

Never had any problems with iPlayer but got back from work today and the folks have said they have been trying to watch "BBC catchup" (as they call it) and it kept stopping and pausing and the spinning circle kept appearing. They managed to watch the programmes but were quite annoyed.

I assumed it was just VM having some network problems (I note my broadband has been down twice today around midday for a few minutes both times) but with the reports above of an iPlayer update I will keep an eye on it!

I would expect the same applies as when the Netflix app was updated - first start is slow, but all subsequent ones will be quicker
