Re: Super Hub 1 no longer being distributed by Virgin Media?
Thank you guys
We were always on the XL size broadband until May last year when went upto XXL braodband, i mentioned at the time i was only getting the same as XL thru wireless, told it was my equipment (pc etc) as i was getting full 120mb when connected thru wired connection but even now on are brand new Sony Vaio Ultrabook , that only still gives about 56mb, i complained again today and technical suppport said they had changed the frequency and it should get faster, they still tried it on about "you dont get your full download speed thru wireless", yes but you should not loose half surely!!! anyway its still crap.
think i will ring retention and tell them i have had enough , whats the point of upgrading us to 150mb and still only getting 56mb.

You need to have the correct equipment. A superhub 2 on 5ghz with a 3 antenna wifi card can get over 100 easily.

yeah, unfortunately VM are providing you with 152mbits and you can also receive/achieve that speed. The fact that you are chosing to use equipment and transfer methods which prevent you from achieving a high speed isn't VM's problem. It is like buying an Audi R8 and moaning that you can drive 150mph round your housing estate.

I stiill have the old Ambit black modem and am buying a new laptop to use wirelessly. With the new BB speed increase, I don't think the modem will be powerful enough. Will VM supply mw with a new Superhub if I ask?

I just rang two different people re the hub, and I was told that the speed had already increased in my area but I would need a superhub. the first person quoted me £20 and the second person quoted £5.99 for self installation. Confused, you bet I am. I didn't even know my speed had been increased

You could always unplug your modem, ring up faults and claim it has died and won't power on. They can do nothing except send you out a new modem and I very much doubt Virgin will send anything other than a superhub.

Re: Super Hub 1 no longer being distributed by Virgin Media?
It's about as naughty as charging a customer £5.99 for up to date equipment.

Replacements for faulty modems are a SuperHub 1
If you need a new SuperHub as part of the speed upgrade programme, it's a SuperHub 2

Fair enough. A SHUB 1 should still get the higher speeds though, at least when they push the config file down.

And presumably the tech will replace the out of date equipment with a superhub, right? Aren't they supposed to replace equipment that's more than 3 years old even if there's no fault? Or has that been changed?
