Chelsea have probably bitten at the ridiculous fee, nothing more. It will balance the books for FFP. I think it was reported they were in a bit of a sticky situation, going forward that is.

With the losses we reported recently, around £15m don't count towards meeting FFP as it was spent on youth development (Yeah yeah, I know, what development) training facility improvements and Chelsea football schools around the world. That apparently puts us below whatever the initial figure for losses are. You have to remember that the new TV deal dosh isn't counted til the end of this season. That plus £30m a year off Adidas from this season helps massively. As you say, the fee is probably the reason. Especially for someone who's essentially, and I hate to say it, just a squad player currently.

I don't doubt that Russ. I just can't see him going there. The tarts are legal though so you can never say never...

It would have been agreed that they wouldn't ask him. United would have basically said he won't give an interview if the question is asked. They will probably ask it after the match.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
As long as it meets FFP then that's all that matters. Roman didn't get where he is today without having very good accountants. Considering the massive debt all the Spanish teams are in, I think us and City will be fine. There's a interesting court case regarding Neymars true transfer fee coming up in Spain. The current Barca president has, allegedly, been hiding the true fee. It's said to be 90 million euros plus. We also made a profit in 12/13. That it was probably only a fiver is irrelevant...

Barcelona have maintained since the signing was made last May that the whole operation cost the club £47 million (€57m) but that they couldn't divulge how much each of the parties involved in the deal had received on confidentiality grounds.

cash in hand on the grounds of confidentiality would be hilarious.

It's all these 2nd, 3rd and 4th party ownerships that confuse the issue at times. A lot of countries on mainland Europe benefit from all this. They can get a player for a fraction of his true value. Plus they all give out work permits to anyone that can kick a ball, then sell them on for a ridiculous profit. The Barca stuff is all internal politics. With all the members they have, there's bound to be plenty that don't get on. Especially near election time.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
FFP might seem like it wants to even things out financially, but what I've mentioned above, along with the vastly unequal TV money Barca and Real get compared to the other teams in that league, make it anything but even. de Gea Always a goal in Fergie time...
