No. Proposals for that will be sent to the BBC Trust in January.

Not our fault if the info was wrong is it?
I don't think anyone blames posters when their information is wrong. I think that in the case of the SA rumours it was the absolute certainty of two posters in particular (we all know who they are) who absolutely would not entertain any doubts but flatly refused, over and over again to provide any provenance to their claims.

I seem to remember one responding to a simple request of something along the lines of 'why do you think that?' with the retort: 'I'm not going down that path...' as if requesting some kind of validation was in some way weird or abnormal.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 6.

All this talk about 1 channel that doesn't do well with ratings! Anyone with a Samsung smart TV can use Unblock-us to access HBO Nordic. All HBO content including movies and other content from differnt studios in HD quality, advert free and only about £8 a month. I tried it last month but have decided to stick with Netflix for now. When using HBO Nordic it was apparent Sky Atlantic with its crap filler content is so overrated. If anyone's interested Currys have a Samsung smart TV on offer at £199, down from £350. Only 27" though but it does do 1080p.

I tend to agree. SKY Atlantic only draws an average audience of about 600,000 per day which is 5.7% of SKY's TV customer base. If those viewing stats transferred over to Virgins TV customer base the channel would only draw between 200,000 to 250,000 viewers. Not worth Virgin pursuing unless they can get it for a knock down price, which we know SKY won't do.

Chad, I'm not bigging up SA here. I've never seen the channel, but I've seen a lot of its content (don't ask). But to me 5.7% of a platforms customer base in today's multi-channel environment seems very good. Are you able to provide similar figures for say, Sky 1 so we can compare?

I'm shocked anyone expects high viewing figures its night time schedule with the likes of Boardwalk Empire , Banshee , Game of thrones , Ray Donovan etc are hardly family friendly shows and that's without factoring in the channels only on Sky and Now TV.

According to BARB, over the past 6 months SKY 1 draws on average 2.5 million daily viewers. SKY 1 however is on SKY, Virgin Media, Talk Talk, Smallworld Cable, Wight Fibre and UPC in Ireland.

SKY Living draws an average of 1.4 million. SKY Living is also available across most platforms.

I suppose your right. It's not a family orientated channel, it's mainly for adults who want to enjoy high end drama. I must admit if I was 20 years younger, SKY Atlantic would probably never be on in my house. Too busy watching football, The Simpsons and trying to chase girls

Ahh, many thanks. It's a pity we don't have comparable figures, but on the face of it, I'd say that 5.7% of viewers was pretty high, not record breaking, but a strong performer.

Gonna draw a line under the previous posts though, I have nothing else to say other than I treat media reports as speculation, I appreciate you may choose to think otherwise.
Well, most of them are based on fact, although this depends on which part of the media you are following! I place more trust in the 'respectable' media than I do in 'tv viewers' and 'insiders'.

Basically, about 99% of posts on here are speculation anyway, so what makes this so different?

Finally the article does acknowledge that "a deal is not imminent" and whilst I can understand the point about opening the channel up to a potential 4 million viewers, the channel has been opened up to everyone in the UK with broadband by way of a NOW TV box.

Personally I think the article is more speculation than fact however others will see what they want to see.
But the media don't reveal their sources if the information is given in confidence.

As far as the other matters here are concerned, there was a later piece, I think I read it in the Daily or Sunday Telegraph, which was more positive. It was this article that led to my optimistic posts. The fact that Sky wanted VM to carry Sky Bravo and were even holding up its launch until the negotiations were over I saw as one positive sign.

In fact, it was a whole raft of information that, when put together, appeared to suggest an autumn launch, but with the possibility of drift due to Sky Bravo and Now TV. As I have said before, time will tell if this all comes about.

Based on what evidence, Dave? At least I've quoted media sources, which are a lot more reliable than personal opinions and rumours.

This is just your personal opinion. I respect that, but I am a little surprised that you are quite so adamant, particularly as you have repeatedly said 'but I hope I'm wrong, I really do'.

Google has struck a deal with HBO to make Game of Thrones available on its TV service, getting one over rival Apple iTunes, which does not have rights for the hit fantasy series.

HBO has struck a wide-ranging deal to make shows including Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, Girls and Veep available on the Google Play service for the first time.

The deal will see older shows, such as The Wire, The Sopranos and Band of Brothers available to own and stream via Google Play from next week

That's interesting. How were they able to get over Sky's exclusivity deal with HBO? Maybe VM should link into Google TV by way of an app!

Blinkbox has had HBO content in the UK for the past 16 months:

http://www.screendaily.com/news/dist...045313.article

Blinkbox and Google TV have the pay to stream rights for the shows. Both charge £1.89 per episode. Pretty expensive. Google TV are charging £18.49 to stream the whole first season of Game of Thrones.

I see. Still, VM could add these shows to the on demand system on a PPV basis. It would be better than nothing until something else transpires.
