For this to work i assume the set up has to be as follows:-
- HDMI cable from Xbox One to TV
- HDMI cable from Sky Box to HDMI in on Xbox One
- Set up Kinect IR in the settings as per the link already been posted
That set up will be the standard set up and is correct, however mine wont be as simple as that. Mine will be the following:-
- HDMI Out from Xbox One to HDMI in on AMP
- HDMI from Sky Box to HDMI in on Xbox One
- HDMI out from Amp to HDMI in on TV
So as im going through an AMP i cant see this working for me. What are your thoughts?

Wouldn't it be better to do this
Sky Box > X1 > Amp > TV ?

Thats what im saying, thats the setup i would be having. I bet i didnt word the post well. I really need English lessons lol.
Reason i say i cant see it working as the X1 wont be connected to the TV directly and so i cant see the X1 picking the TV up as not a direct connection

Re: The Xbox One Thread
I don't see why that wouldn't work. Going by that image, the X1 doesn't detect the type of TV, merely that there is a connection - you still manually select your TV type.
I'm still rocking a Yamaha DSP-A5 from thirteen years ago, so my set up will be a little simpler as it doesn't have HDMI. [I do want to get new receiver at some point though, as I'd like a receiver that does HD audio, so that would likely also have HDMI when I get round to getting one]
Sky+HD > Xbox One > TV
I did read something after the recent dash reveal confirming that the Sky+HD box works with the Xbox One's HDMI passthrough, but I can't find the damn article.
What I still want to know, though, is if the passthrough still works when the console is "off" (low power standby) or if it only works when it is fully powered up.
Although the "snap" stuff would be good, I don't want to have to have the console fully powered up every time I want to watch Sky+HD, especially as although we'll have "snap" we won't have the One Guide overlay stuff until next year.

I think the Xbox has a better initial line up of games but neither console has the next-gen gaming franchise of note just yet. Forza sounds like it will be a bit rushed, Dead Rising too. As is standard with the initial line up they'll not be that different to the current gen.
I think PS4's focus on gaming may mean a better gaming experience in the long run. They've done a lot to bring independent developers into the fold whilst Microsoft have been courting media companies for movies and TV shows.
Still most of the exciting games will be multi platform i think.

TBH its also the system OS/UI I really think the One has a much better system. The PS4 UI didn't feel that great to me and the layout wasn't brilliant either.

I agree. I also prefer Xbox Live and the controller. That said I am just really turned off by the 'other' things Microsoft want the Xbox to do and am encouraged by Sony's focus on games.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
But you don't need to use the other features that have been added. They are there as bonus features.
Its still a gaming console but also if you want it an all in one box with lots of nice extras. Having seen videos of it in action the voice control and TV and multi task features are great.

But these features show where Microsoft's focus is. Whilst they were securing rights to the NFL Sony were courting indie developers. I don't want a media center that plays games. I want a games console.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
I want a games console that is also a media centre so the X1 ticks all the right boxes for me so far, i just hope i made the best decision, only time will tell but so far comparing multiplat games the only difference is on some games the PS4 has more games in 1080p and the X1 more in 720p upscaled which probably wont make much difference visually unless someone is sitting 12 inches from their TV.
I also expect as time goes on the majority of games will be 1080p native on both consoles as the developers get more experienced as both consoles are so similar in performance.
Here is the latest comparison of Need for Speed Rivals which runs at 1080p native 30fps on both consoles.

I'm glad that I'm going to wait till the dust settles to see what is best. The reports of lag/slow ups on frame rates, 720p has put me off till things gets sorted. They ain't what I'd say 'next gen' when you're used to a half decent PC.
Time will obviously tell....

Re: The Xbox One Thread
I think they look the same in the side by side video, 720p hasn't put me off with BF4 as it looks better on the X1 even at a lower resolution but the X1 is said to have an awesome hardware upscaler.

You would say that as you have the X1 on order.
I think both will be great after a bit of time but also I don't expect the launch titles to be too brilliant. I'm happy to wait it out to see what the reviews say over a bit of time when the dust settles. For once I'm not going to rush into things.
