Finally a dumb question about this energy saving feature, is it just for forgetfull or lazy people who don't put their box in standby mode when not watching TiVo?
It's to save energy, apparently turning a TiVo box off will save the planet. Also when it's put in standby it's using considerably less power than it was before the update, because it stops the hard drive spinning and it doesn't buffer anymore.

Thanks for that, now I won't feel as guilty in switching on another bar on the electric fire

There have been many changes to the video processing to allow it to support all the Netflix video formats. Also some people experienced the picture being cropped on the left-hand edge, so an adjustment was made for that. You may be seeing a side-effect of one of those changes.

There's something odd about the way Netflix chooses genres, but I don't think TiVo is to blame. On both TiVo and PC, I get Foreign and Gay & Lesbian, but not Steamy. On iPhone I only get Foreign. I turned the Parental Control slider up to the max, but I can't see that anything has changed.

Can anyone explain?

Spacebar not working? Also it's 12 months not 12 years. For people already on Premier or vip pack or thinking of upgrading/joining then this indeed is a very good offer.
For someone like me on M+ then i'm better of just paying the £5.99p/m to Netflix.

Re: TiVo Update/Netflix

Yes the picture processing changes think I've noticed a few things too. Weirdly maybe , to me the best picture is with 1080 and 1080p only engaged. I know 1080p is meant to only have any effect with Netflix. But to my eyes the TiVo picture looks bettter with both engaged rather than just 1080 only. Maybe just be placebo though or more to it , spiderplant any tricks where the best pic is at now then ?

---------- Post added at 12:29 ---------- Previous post was at 12:24 ----------

Oh an before this update I was only using the TiVo with just 1080 engaged.

I'm not aware of 1080p affecting anything but Netflix, but there are so many complexities to video processing that I couldn't rule it out.

One of the list on mine is "Teen Movies with a Strong Female Lead"

May pop down to HMV and ask for the Teen Movies with a Strong Female Lead section...

Definitely can't explain. I don't get Foreign or Gay Lesbian or Steamy on my Tivo, except when I use the workaround I described.

Another issue is that the only profile I get on Tivo is my own. The profiles of my wife and 2 younger children, whilst present via my browser, do not appear in Tivo.

As I believe spiderplant has said elsewhere on here, profiles will come, it's just there were some issues with it so an earlier version of the app is the one currently available

Switching channels seems to be a lot faster too, but picture quality when using Netflix is definitely making the most of my TV now.
The quality is brilliant when streaming the "Super" HD titles.

Maybe when they do replace this one and add one with profiles, it will be the new interface that has just launched?
