EPG?
I was wondering is it the worst around, as it always seems to be out of date. Does anyone know when Virgin updates it?

Re: EPG?
It only updates once a day in general, although you can force it to update at any time.

Is it updated in the early hours of the morning, and how do you force it to update?

Re: EPG?
It's in the network settings I think. Can't remember the exact sequence of menus though.

Thanks. Will have to look into it, as the EPG can be a pain most of the time.

Re: EPG?
To force an update:
Home - Help & Settings - Settings - Network - Connect to the Virgin Media Service now
(this connection will be performed in the background so you can leave the screen and do anything else you want to do).
TiVo only seems to update the EPG once daily in the early hours (my TiVo did it at 02:27) it has to be remembered that schedule changes are not dynamic on Virgin. So problems caused by things like overrunning sporting events or breaking news will not show on the TiVo EPG and schedule / channel changes can sometimes take days to appear.
The EPG errors have vastly improved since the early days of adoption however as I said, we do not have a Dynamic EPG and enabling TiVo to make this network connection does not always guarantee results.

Sadly I don't think a Dynamic EPG is on Virgin's road map, a major factor in this being TiVo Inc US has never had one and also seem to have no intention to provide one. There were threads on the Virgin Help & Support Forum back in 2012 but they quickly died after a whopping 4 posts. It just looks like I'd be convicted if I told you to "hold your breath, it's coming soon".

I noticed them. People were asking for it back in 2011 and almost three years on, and nothing. I think it should be something they look into as it is a great thing on Sky, but I guess the fact Tivo is an American product could be the stopping point.

The EPG must update a few times a day, as I have noticed changes to certain channels throughout the day.

Sometimes we push through changes manually when there is a high-profile programme update.
The TiVo software that is currently in trials does four updates a day, and we're looking at ways to improve it further.

Thanks for the update mate. Good news, but Sky is the example to follow. I hope TiVo and VM decide to make radical changes soon.

Time to wait patiently and get the one that is right when it is ready methinks...
