If we get all the sky HD channels, netflix and other HD versions of popular channels will we all cease to exist? Will this thread just stop? I'm excited about it all happening but i keep asking myself "what on earth will i still need then? Will i ever feel the buzz and excitement from a media boy post?"

The next question is .....
when !
We constantly use all three tuners in our house, so the extra's will be handy

Thanks for info.
2 things spring to mind. 1. With the impending arrival of Netflix, Virgin appear to be bringing out a larger capacity box just at the point they're providing their customers with more "cloud" based options-not sure I understand why. 2. Does this signal an extension in the contract with TiVo and put to bed any chance of Horizon coming, or was this development always part of the original deal made before Liberty Global arrived?

The cloud is the way they are heading for live TV (Netflix isn't that) but I can see that taking a while, just for rights issues alone to be sorted. The lifetime of any new box will probably be near it's end by the time cloud based live TV is feasible in my opinion. So a new box does make sense even in the overall cloud plan.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 5.
Reviews of the USA 3GB Tivo box below, says 6 not 7 tuners but whose bothered on the exact number with that many! Comment about new HTML5 based platform also interesting.
http://www.technobuffalo.com/2013/08...dvr-announced/
"The new box also includes a new HTML5-based platform that TiVo says will allow for faster app rollouts and upgrades -- TiVo already supports apps from YouTube, Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu, among others"
