I welcome Netflix on Tivo, but unless you can get Tivo as a deal, it's an extra on-going £5 a month. So is it worth it just for Netflix when you can buy several inexpensive one off cost boxes which will do Netflix with more options?
For those who don't want Tivo for it's Tivo functionality, but want Netflix, I'm not sure that TiVo is necessarily the best way to go.

We're already paying more for the TIVO. This makes it better value for money and you can get Netflix on the one operating system, which is what most people want.
We don't want to access different programmes by using different equipment, and we want it on our TVs.

Re: Netflix or SKY Atlantic?
No need for Netflix in my house. Sky Atlantic would be preferred option but I'm not too bothered about that either.
All I want it the friggin' TV Anywhere android app!

I'm not saying that adding Netflix to Tivo doesn't make it better value; of course it does.
But if you have no interest in Tivo, i.e., a V+ or VHD is all you need or want, then paying an extra £5 per month for Tivo, just to get Netflix, then there are probably better options to get Netflix.

People have, PS3s, Xboxes, Wiis blueray players etc. connected to their TVs these days. So I'm not sure that argument holds up for most people these days. And most of the gear I've listed can already get Netflix, so another reason why moving to Tivo just to get Netflix is not worth it for some people.
And of course there is the fact that Netflix on Tivo limits you to just UK Netflix content, where other devices don't.

Re: Netflix or SKY Atlantic?
So Netflix is going to be available to VM customers via the app at no extra cost?

Well, I don't have that equipment and nor do most people I know. I guess it depends what circles you move in.
You may not find it worthwhile to go to TIVO 'just for' Netflix. But what if they added Lovefilm? What if they added more and more choices that you could get through TIVO? My bet is that you would eventually be persuaded to make the move.
I agree that Netflix UK is not a patch on Netflix US, but that's just an interim rights issue problem. Deals will be done over the coming months and years which I am confident will narrow the gap.

Far too much to list.
Here is a link to the official Virgin Media TiVo guide:

Have a look and see if the features appeal to you.

Here are some of the things that I think are better:
3 recordable tuners; V+ 2 plus a live channel.
Much bigger hard drive. With all the HD channels VM now have, the 20 hours of HD space the V+ has is just way too small.
Automatic rescheduling of recording clashes ---- which don't happen as often anyway because the Tivo has 3 recordable tuners. No more manually having to check for repeats, which you have to do on V+ for shows that clash.
Series links, once set, stay forever. No more having to reset them when a show takes a season or mid season break like you have to do on V+ and only realise that you needed to do it after the show had re-started and you've missed several episodes!
Whishlists. Get to hear about a show that is starting in 6 months time, but because it's not on the EPG you can't set a recording for it? Add it to a Whishlist and it will automatically get recorded when it starts to broadcast, no matter which VM channel it turns up on.
You can also set up whishlists for your favourite subject, actor, director and define extra filter criteria for them and they will automatically get recorded if a show relevant to them turns up on the EPG any time in the future.
Extensive intelligent search with links to broadcast dates and the ability to set up a series link or whishlist, direct link to youtube and any On Demand content related to the search.
Full Series, season and episode information with a list of upcoming shows being broadcast in the next two weeks.
Links to actors appearing in a specific show and information on other shows they are in.
Suggestions. You can thumb up or down a specific show and it will then optionally automatically record similar shows.
Extensive settings for default recording options.
Backwards EPG which goes back a week and you just click on a show that is available from catchup and it automatically plays it.
Express Series link. Automatically set a series link by clicking on a show in the EPG. Default recording options are automatically applied to the series link.
There are probably more advantages, but that should do for starters...

Re: Netflix or SKY Atlantic?
not being in a long term contract with vm any more really suits me. i have many devices i can watch netflix on. apart from the storage being too small on my samsung box i am perfectly happy with it.
also the changes almost everywhere, not just vm , to 18 rather than 12 month contracts is something that really bugs me.

If you sign a new contract with VM, then you only sign up for a further 12 months. It's only brand new connections that have the 18 months contract applied to them.
