I think what it's trying to say is that the TiVo connection doesn't impact the broadband.

In regards to V+ HD customers having 'access' you already do - via devices that run the Netflix app. Remember all this is doing is putting a Netflix app on TiVo initally. Same as there is a YouTube app

Sky and Netflix are competitors for content in the UK so I can't see them tying up. Sky's pre-emptive OFCOM defying strike of signing up exclusives with all the big Hollywood studios and HBO that limits what Netflix has available here.
US service has a vastly superior catalogue - it'll be interesting to see if those with a US Netflix account (you can legally access Netflix US content via a VPN) will work on the TiVo.
There's no reason that this will lessen the likelihood of Sky Atlantic et al arriving. Maybe some are applying the logic that VM had to spend cash on either more Sky HD channels or Netflix, but there's no evidence of that being the situation.
I think it's great news.

Broken promises aside, I notice that this tie up with Netflix will be the first such deal between an ott service and a pay tv operator, and the reason one hasn't happened before is the old "rights issues" chestnut. I really hope this isn't another multi room sharing situation where we get a restricted service at launch with a promise of more to come soon because they haven't resolved all of the rights issues.

As you can't change the DNS on the built in TiVo connection, then no it won't

I suspect eventually they will up the dedicated line to the Tivo to maybe 20mb/s if customers are experiencing problems streaming Netflix without their own broadband.

Netflix Super HD is around 7mb/s and it's good to have headroom so the 10 meg tivo connection is cutting it close maybe.

Of more concern is that tivo doesn't currently have a1080p setting and much of Netflix content is 1080p. Fixed in the other updates refered to maybe?

Maybe. Makes it a silly thing to say, though. I reckon there remains a sizeable number of people who just simply want everything in the same place.

Nope, I believe it means that you will be able to hook your Tivo up to your Superhub and stream Netflix through that connection rather than your dedicated Tivo connection, which means if the VM Network goes down and you still have Broadband, Netflix will continue to work.

I think its that you can access Netflix on your Tivo using your own broadband rather than using the in-built one.

But a lot of people still experience issues with BBC iPlayer and YouTube streaming on the Tivo and they dont even need 7mb/s?

And yes hopefully it will allow 1080p output when using Netflix and then switch to 1080i for Broadcast/OD. If not ill use the Smart TV App

It doesn't say that though. It specifically says 'Virgin Media broadband', not any broadband connection.

And Tivo's Internet connection is only via its own built in link, not via ethernet .
