Hauntings
I know a lot of people don't believe in ghosts but i have just witnessed the most surreal thing ever.
I walked into my living room and i put on my light and my lamp was hovering about 6 inches in mid air above my window sill. I just stood there in complete astonishment and disbelief. I walked over to it and grabbed it and placed it back down and walked away.
Thy guy who lived here before me died here so i wonder if its him.

This is just one of a few things in past few weeks.
I am almost certain someone sits on the bottom of my bed at night as u can feel the bed lower, The Calender in my kitchen has been changed from August to June, Smoke Alarms randomly going off for no reason. Also while on the phone to my sister i asked her if i had left my glasses there cos i couldn't find them, i walked into my bedroom and back to the living room and the glasses were on the coffee table. Also i have stuff being moved... When i get home from work for example i take my mobile, keys and wallet out of my pocket and put on the table in the hallway ready for when i go to work next morning and u can guarantee every morning i have to hunt for each item.

I had a few episodes when I was younger.
Woke up one night with a fat bloodied butcher sitting on the end of my bed. Another night I awoke to see a male, female and child standing with their back to me gazing out of my bedroom window across the River Forth. Pretty bad stuff to be waking up too.
My parents got really worried about some of the stuff I was telling them. They took me to the doctor and then a psychologist but thankfully I wasn't suffering from any mental illnesses. It was decided a combination of sleep apnea, sleep walking and night terrors was the cause.
My poor wife has to endure some of my episodes. Not too long ago I woke her up after throwing a bedside lamp on the floor. I was trying to kill a snake I thought was trying to get under the bed.
It's real freaky stuff. One night I drank a 4 litre jug of milk in one go whilst sleepwalking. Needless to say I wet the bed big time.
I must admit that your floating lamp experience sounds well freaky.

Re: Hauntings
Chad... When i was younger i lived in a house that was haunted there were numerous pictures taken in the house that showed figures most of which leaving or entering my bedroom or bathroom. On a number of occasions i had objects thrown at me in the bedroom and it all calmed down when i put a cross in the room. I refused to stay in the home by myself because i always felt as if i was being watched and someone was looking over my shoulder.
A few weeks ago i was ill getting over Pneumonia and i was vomiting in the bathroom and i swear to anything someone placed their hand on my shoulder as if to say there there all will be ok.

That's pretty scary. I'm a pretty open minded person and don't dismiss what you are saying. Whilst my experiences where totally different and have an explanation for them happening, it took a while for my parents to believe what I was telling them.
I understand how difficult it must be to get others to understand what you've seen. I can also understand how unnerving and frightening these events have been. It sounds like you've come to terms that this is a problem that won't go away.

Re: Hauntings
Chad my mum to this day outright refuses to talk about what happens at their home as they still live there and shes burned every single pitcure that had anything in it herself.
My sister not long after my grand dad died was going to see my grand mum with a friend, she was walking down the path to my grans and was tapped on the shoulder she turned around and my grand dad was sitting in his chair on the path laughing at her and her friend saw it. My gran said she thought the girls were being raped there were just huge screams!
My grans old flat was well documented for poltergeists. When they were knocking down the flats her flat was used by the council as a storage shed and the workmen outright refused to enter there after one day they went in and all their tools were in mid air.
Im telling u i could tell u things that would make ur hair curl and some of the things ive seen. Ive held 2 conversations with my grand dad who has given me advice in the past 3 years when hes been in my bedroom. My grand dad died in 1988.
My sister was in the bath last week and my grand dads voice started talking to her, her husband thought it was a spider she just screamed!
If there is something at my flat aslong as its not doing anything to harm me its more than welcome to stay i don't mind one bit but why doesnt he put himself to good use and do the dishes or hoovering while im out lol.

Re: Hauntings
If ghosts, spirits (good or evil) etc, etc.
There would be more evidence. Derek Acorah doing a quasimodo impression whilst being possessed every week doesn't qualify.
It's interesting to note, that ghost sightings and other reports of such phenomenon were rarely recorded before victorian times. The modern "ghost" is very much a recent invention.
I'm not saying there isn't stuff out there that can't be explained, but just because because it can't be explained, doesn't mean that it's from beyond the grave.

Re: Hauntings
I've seen and heard things that cannot always be readily explained..
One sticks in my mind in particular..
Back in the 80s, my Aunt owned a rather delapidated plantation in Barbados. The house was over 200 years old and multiple ghosts had been sighted there. The lower floor consisted of a large kitchen, a dining room and a living room. These last two rooms were joined both via the stairway/lower landing inside the house, and a large corridor that had been build around the house. A sort of enclosed verandah.
One night, I was asleep on the sofa in the living room. I was woken up by the sound of the footsteps of a large man walking out of the living room. I looked, and could see nothing. The sound continued into the aforementioned verandah, into the dining room and up the stairs. I actually was petrified. When I tried to move, my body would not respond.
When I told my aunt what had happened the next morning, she dismissed it as a prank, or me dreaming. Some years later, when she had moved back to this country, she actually told me I was not the first to hear that, and was not the last either.

This^
It also seems every time one of these 'spirits' is caught on camera or video, it's been taken on a toaster despite the massive advancements in camera's.

So a lamp is floating in mid air and you didn't run? you picked it up out of mid air and just carried on? Come on, this is a wind up.
