Red face Drawing

Hi Guys

I've not posted for a while concerning my drawings, infact it's been so long ago now since i was doing my IT degree that it must be going on to 2006 since i posted any drawings.

Basically, I'm showing these off to you all because i need to build up a new portfolio. I've hosted a few competitions on facebook and i'm joining etsy in the hope i can get some commissioned work, mainly because i need to get some cash for my degree in October.

Because ive been a member of the forum so long, i'm offering half price to any work i do, so if you want to get your family portrait, now is the time really, as i'm going to be pretty busy in the next few months, i'm starting my honors degree in graphic design which starts October.

i also do animals, cars, bikes, houses, anything really.

Anyway, any feedback is welcomed, and if you dont like art then im sorry i made you read this

Re: Drawing

I agree nice work. Faces / portraits are not easy, either you can or can't do them (I can't - at all). Do you do anything from memory or just a copier? (the 3rd pic in is by far the best one of the 4, that is excellent).

i have done stuff from memory, but usually people who want a portrait provide a photograph, so really you need to copy it, especially when you dont know that person.

These portraits are only my 2nd 3rd, 4th attempt. usually i draw animals.

Re: Drawing

The foreheads are too big and the eyes are too far apart in 4, unless they are like that in real life. But I can't criticize art work. (Other than modern art that is). I think anyone who can show their work is far braver than I am.

Re: Drawing

Oops. But if you're just starting out on portraits then just keep doing what you're doing.

The superman is only one I would pick up on, the proportions are slightly out, hands, arms, the logo 'S' isn't wrapped in proportion to the body. But don't let me take anything away from it. The face is very good.

Pic 2, Cheryl Cole is a tad sharp, other than that, really good.

Pic 3 is excellent, hands are another thing that people struggle with. The eyes are still wide apart but that's minor.

Cheers for sharing them. Keep up the good work.

Re: Drawing

They look nice enough from what I can make out.

I can't and wouldn't pass comment as I have no artistic talent at all.

Re: Drawing

As others have said, faces are hard. Largely due to that fact that our brains know exactly how they should look. This is good work, certainly if you're fairly new to it

Re: Drawing

Looking good Barewolf. Drawing from a photo needs a special skill and you certainly seem to have what it takes.

I am so glad that you are at last going in for your degree and I wish you much success in the future.

Re: Drawing

There have been a few items on the net recently about drawings that look so close to a photo they seem impossible.

Great skill you have, keep at it!

Love the Superman one.
