It looks like from posts here, Twitter, Facebook and Virgins Community Forum that Matthew Walsh is not alone. So many people were blinded by free ESPN in XL. The loss of ESPN has been a massive wake-up call for so many. People are having a look at the channels they are left with and thinking "how many of these do I actually watch".
The great news for XL customers is Virgin are allowing you to cancel your TV service, if you are in contract, without penalty. Virgin are also offering discounts / half price SKY Sports to stop you from leaving. Maybe a good idea to give Virgin a call, get yourself a good value deal.

Re: Have you changed/cancelled your account since ESPN closing?
No surprise to me to see the posts about people paying over the odds to get the free espn and similar. What is apparent to me is that the overwhelming majority of customers are very, very stupid and know nothing about anything to do with sport. They also show no real awareness of what is going on around them, and even despite the huge, massive, great numbers of people who have already left because there is no BT Sport yet... i genuinely think most customers will only realise that ESPN has gone at 12.45pm in 13 days time. when they tune in to watch Liverpool vs Stoke. then they will all call up asking to leave too.

Ok i will bite as you are calling people stupid. Proof is required if you are going to offer up statements like "great numbers of people who have already left", so give us the proof and figures or how can we trust what you have just posted ???

ESPN was always available standalone on the lower packages. It was £6 extra if you had Sky Sports and £8 if you didn't have Sky Sports.
What is the difference in price between TV XL and TV M+? £16.50 per month.

I wouldn't say people were wasting money but it certainly made me think what I was getting for my money. Which in turn helped me decide to downgrade.

So, if "the overwhelming majority of customers are very, very stupid and know nothing about anything to do with sport", and the same such people "also show no real awareness of what is going on around them", then where did "the huge, massive, great numbers of people who have already left because there is no BT Sport" come from if you also think "most customers will only realise that ESPN has gone at 12.45pm in 13 days time" ?

Re: Have you changed/cancelled your account since ESPN closing?
ESPN was a bonus to the XL pack and I did watch a few matches whilst it was there but I personally have XL to get all the channels in HD so I'll be sticking with it for the time being.
I don't really watch much Premiership footy and just get Sky Sports anytime I wanna watch my team in Sky Bet League 1! If BT Sport comes to XL then that would be a bonus but I personally won't be paying any extra for it should it be a premium channel. However I do hope they get it soon regardless of pack/cost for all those fellow VM subscribers who definitely want it.

This is very easy to answer my friends so sit back at await another demolition:
Here is how reality works. It is possible to have an overwhelming majority of people, but also have a minority than still numbers huge massive and great. Therefore we have a situation where huge massive great numbers of people have already left, but this is still a minority compared to all the other people who show now awareness and will only discover they are missing a sports channel just as the season kicks off. Think of it This way. Let's say a huge great massive minority of 300m people die in China from an Alien Invasion, this would still leave over 700 million alive who would make up the majority of people in China.
I thank you, and I await 2 apologies now thank you very much
Also I am unemployed and i can do whatever i want, i can go to bed whenever i want and do whatever I want really so no doubt about that. I have no bedtime and i can appear at any time, so keep on your toes. I have the distinct advantage of being to to watch loads of football and sports broadcasting due to no job. Further increasing my already 2nd to none knowledge of football broadcasting which I know everything about, and am never wrong on.

Well said mate, I will second that. I have the little urchin on ignore and I still can not get away from him
Based on his quoted posts I have seen, all he still seems to want to do is spout his own random, contradictory and delusional thoughts (which he is of course entitled to do) which appear to be worded in a way which appear to cause frustrations to many posters. He still seems to ignore all reasonable responses to his posts and writes more antagonistic posts, for no apparent reason. I must have missed all his sensible posts.
Still, that is his right. Ho-hum. He will continue to be ignored by me though!
For what it's worth, I thought the thread was a good idea
