I have a number of private messages supporting my view. I read many things believing in them blindly is another matter. I did post that I choose to ignore MB as in general I find his posts are at best, guesses & at worst fantasies.
Also I have no wish to push thru long lists that simply repeat themselves.
I come here mainly when I am bored and in the UK. I read -but do not post when I log on to a remote server.
PS some friends have just been visiting as ( they both are on Sky) & want someone to offer "Whole room Harmony boxes" with advanced TV plus.
I tend to agree except, the Tivo looks better ! but really that`s a reason to to change!

VM have a contract to pay ESPN for their channel until the end of the contract, whilst ESPN have a contract to supply ESPN in return for payment.
The takeover by Liberty doesn't change this legally binding agreement, as long as ESPN still exists as an entity. BT can't close down ESPN because of the requirements of various unexpired sports rights. The ESPN brand WILL eventually disappear.
Of course, both companies are free to supercede the contracts if both parties agree.
With immediate effect, Sky employees have been told not to refer to (or insinuate) that Sky Atlantic is a channel that is exclusive to British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC.
Appropriate action would need to be taken by Sky management regarding any issues of insubordination by anybody working for or on behalf of Sky Television. I am afraid I am unable to expand any further due to commercial & confidentiality issues.
Lol, I must admit that, having slated it at launch as not being needed, I have found 4Seven to be useful on many occasions

I can't find anywhere that ESPN has to stay in xl because of a pre existing contract between ESPN and Virgin. In fact I was of the understanding that this agreement ended when ESPN's Premier League rights expired. In addition Bt have advertised, and Virgin have had a statement on their website, to the effect that ESPN won't be available on Virgin. So, in light of that, are you able to back up what you say? As far as I can tell, it isn't publicly available information.

Lots of stuff on here about why ESPN is staying as ESPN. I read it that when they sold everything to BT, part of the deal was that they wanted to keep a channel called ESPN in the UK so that they could keep people familiar with their brand. And that's it. BT picked up their content and agreed to run one channel in their name.

Is not ESPN an American brand ( Disney/Hurst) and will continue as such. Just pulling out of a small market ( UK) selling its brand to BT- Virgin comes to mind

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.
All the above of course is based on rumour and conjecture. The four streams testing could be anything, the lack of BT Sport could be VM hanging out to get the best deal and as for Sky Atlantic, well who knows.
Having said that, I can't see the Premiership football/rugby or their sponsors accepting a drop in potential viewers of a few million. The pressure will be on BT to do a deal with VM especially with the lack of uptake by BT.

Not sure the premiership football/rugby is bothered.
They auctioned the rights...there wasn't a "must increase viewers clause". Or they would have let BBc or ITV have the rights for less money
