Ok, I was joking about the full stops, but if we really must get in to this then it's second in your link to the world famous (i feel the need to point out that this is also a joke) Canadian Inuit association and my post was in response to somebody who had spent the previous few pages telling us he was in the know. More to the point, you actually knew what I meant!
I also feeI the need to state that I have nothing against Canadian Inuits.

Also internetslang.com has it as I used it. So there <pokes tongue out and blows raspberry>.

1st August is a Thursday so good day to launch as virgin media often launch channels on Tuesday and Thursday if the op is wrong about sky Atlantic and bt sports then you will be one hated person.

I think it's worth pointing out (I'm sure we've all looked!) that BomberAF has been a member of Cableforum since 2009, mainly confining his posts to the internet related threads. Unless his account has been hacked, and without knowing him or his personality, I can't think why he'd want to come on here and make it all up. I genuinely think he is credible.

Like most VM customers i hope this happens but shall wait until we get the official announcement before i pop the champagne however.
This would be really exciting news though. After the recent new channel launches and more HD content to get SA (even if just SD at first) and BT Sports for the same price as we have been paying, or even a minimal increase of £1 or £2 per month, would be a big boost for VM and would surely shut up even the most vocal critics of VM out there. (Well ok probably not 'cos there always be something for people to moan about i suppose)
For me packages come down to value for money and what is proposed offers that imo and credit to VM if this happens.
There would not really that much left that Sky have that VM dont. Not that much to make people want to jump ship anyway.
If Universal HD comes (which has been rumoured for some time) that would be great. from a personal view.
We may even get Sky Sport News HD at some point. Only leaves Sky Sports 3 & 4 HD left and that is ultimately down to Sky if they wish to keep them for themselves- oh and MGM maybe.
VM bashers may need to find a new pastime
|
Upon reflection, I fear the VM bashing will continue. Esp. if Chad's statement about a new Sky exclusive channel launching is true. (I believe BomberAF also alluded to it in one of his posts - about VM not paying premium prices for SA because Sky would not guarantee against new exclusive channels launching.) We probably will get SA in Aug, but it will be pretty pointless if Sky put all the new content on another channel we wont get. The bashing will just begin again for said channel, and continue for Universal HD and the missing sports in HD

I tend to agree andy_m, unless he intends to delete his account and/or wants a load of abuse come Aug 1st.

Sky Atlantic is going to stay the same as always, The content will remain the same. Sky sell its non premium channels to VM wholesale not individually, so VM will get Atlantic as part of the deal Sky and VM have. VM customers are also Sky customers so sky does also have to offer VM customers a good quality service as much as it does its own. You will also find that VM do make money from Sky's channels but it makes the larger chunk of its profits from broadband and line rental and also services like Tivo. Don't get me wrong VM does not provide Sky's channels to VM customers out of the goodness of its heart.
I am not looking for a bashing, a bashing is not what I will get. I had information that I thought I would share with you, as an impasse had arisen.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.
I am inclined to believe Bomberaf. Over the past year VM have devalued the XL package and losing ESPN would further do this. They need something major to add to the XL line up apart from a few +1 and HD channels and i think that BT Sport will be it. A lot of people (myself included) are looking closely at the XL pack and thinking what advantage does it bring over L and is that enough to justify the price difference.
As pointed out by others BT are going to want the channel on as many platforms as possible and having it in the XL package on VM will guarantee them revenue.
Sky Atlantic is a very similar situation. Not many new shows starting over the next 3 months with it being the slow Summer period so to keep viewer levels on the channel opening it up to VM subscribers who will be seeing a lot of the show for the first time will do that.

Atlantic will only be any good if it is HD, I have an extremely expensive award winning tv, the up scaling on it is as good as it gets, but I watched boardwalk empire and game of thrones in HD and it is stunning, probably just as stunning to watch for the filming than for the content, no amount of line doubling and trickery will reproduce that detail and clarity.

Oh and pro logic II isn't a patch on Dolby 5.1 either.

Atlantic will be launched in full HD, as will BT sport. The other channels that aren't HD will more than likely stay that way.

You sure? I would expect BT Sport to be HD but would be very surprised (but delighted) to see us get Sky Atlantic in HD too.
I've got some contacts at VM and Sky, and they've not said anything about an Atlantic deal but expect BT Sport for August 1st, although there's no word as to any additional cost for us punters yet.
