60MB Broadband only price question

Hi there,

I'm paying £40.25 per month for 60MB Broadband only (no tv, no phone). Does this sound high?

Many thanks for any comments,
CM

Re: 60MB Broadband only price question

That sounds high, it's £27.50 on the website without any offers

Thanks Ben - I did speak to them a while ago to say this but they gave me some old flannel about the website prices being for new customers only (I've been with NTL since 2001...).

You've given me some ammo to go back to them with now. Many thanks!

Re: 60MB Broadband only price question

Even 120mb is only £35 on it's own.

Re: 60MB Broadband only price question

I'd ring through to disconnections and see if you can get a refund or some form of recurring monthly discount if you've been paying that much for a while, as Kabaal has said even 100/120Mb doesn't cost that much

Re: 60MB Broadband only price question

I emailed Virgin yesterday and had this reply:

"Thanks for getting in touch about a special offer you've seen, we're
very sorry to hear that you're unhappy about it.
Please allow us to explain in a little more detail.
We're really keen for new customers to join Virgin Media, so they can
start getting all the benefits we offer. So from time to time, we have
special offers and promotions to welcome new customers on board.
Our offers might not always be available to existing customers, but that
doesn't mean you'll have to miss out once you've joined us. We often
have offers and special deals on our services, or one-off promotions to
make sure you carry on getting the value you'd expect and the kind of
service you deserve.
To take a look at what's on offer right now, just visit us at
www.virginmedia.com/products
To discuss the best deals and discounts available for your account
please call our team on 150 from your Virgin Media home phone or on 0845
454 1111* from any other phone and select option 1 and we'll be happy to
help.
Thanks for providing a contact e-mail address. We can see it matches
the one on our records.
Kind regards,"

I really don't get why businesses in this country do not do more to retain their customers. It costs a fortune to recruit new customers so why not make those you've already got satisfied?

Round 2 has begun, I will keep you all posted.....

Re: 60MB Broadband only price question

ChickenM

I was paying MORE for less, had tv, BB, and phone, plus 2 extra boxes, my bill was always over £120pm

Phoned them up and asked why new customers were getting better deals than me, when i {as i thought} was a good customer? asked them to just match what a new customer was being offered, i only wanted the same, nothing extra, they said they couldn't

So i cancelled my tv, phone, and extra boxes, saving me £85+ every month, now i get emails, leaflets, asking me to have the things i asked them for before cancelling, it truly is amazing how multi million £££ companies run their businesses.

I have the 60mb BB only now, and as soon as BT infinity is enabled in my area i will be gone from virgin, happy to know that if it all goes wrong with BT, Virgin will welcome me back as a NEW CUSTOMER {having lost over £1400 of my money for a year to BT} and giving me a CHEAPER deal as well.

It just goes to show us mere mortals could never run a large multi million pound company, we would never have thought of a business plan like that.
