At last, a bit more news re the "coming soon" Sky Atlantic!
To those who said it would never happen, etc, time will tell, but let's put this into perspective - it's only a TV channel with a relatively short-life line of programming. I don't see this is a major factor in new negotiatons so it will likely be bundled in with TV XL to keep VM's customer's sweet.
Whatever VM paid to EPSN will likely now pass to Sky as part of the bundle price, which IMHO is a realistic valuation of the channel as it now stands.

They could, but I think it will still be unlikely we will ever get them in HD.

In my own view I can see UPC Ireland and Virgin Media negotiation teams becoming one over time.
And all the deals with broadcasters becoming one deal - Maybe we will maybe even see UPC Ireland copying the Virgin Media channel lineup.
I mean why pay Viacom two times in the one month!!!
Virgin Media lineup: http://channelwiki.x10.mx/wiki/List_...gin_Media_(UK))
UPC Ireland lineup: http://channelwiki.x10.mx/wiki/List_..._UPC_(Ireland))

The article doesn't mention HD, as far as I'm aware its referring to the fact you get 3/4/News/F1 included when you take 1 & 2.

The takeover means millions of home viewers can enjoy a live Premier League match, a Football League fixture, plus a host of other football shows at no cost.
The free day will also include the brand new show, 'Saturday Night Football', for Sky's 5.30pm Saturday evening Premier League fixture. The show is part of Sky Sports' new look 'weekend of football' which also includes the new pairing of Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville for 'Monday Night Football' and a new Saturday schedule running from Soccer AM all the way through to extended evening highlights of all 3pm matches.

I asked if this meant that some or all of the Sky Sports channels would be temporarily unencrypted, if they would be moved or simulcast on a channel such as Sky One or if they would be put onto Pick TV to dissuade Freeview viewers from subscribing to BT Sport (not sure if they can or not) and was told that he didn't know the answer to that.
Does anyone know if sports rights that are sold with pay TV rights MUST be shown on pay TV, or if Sky are able to show them FTA should they wish to do so?
If not, that rules out Pick TV, but the option of putting them on a channel like Sky One would comply with any "must carry on pay TV" requirement.
|
Looks like the rumour that VM heard last weekend may be true then, although it doesn't mention any future free football to try and scupper BT matches.
I wonder why it appears to be simulcast on Sky 2 and Pick TV, why not just put it on Pick TV to cover freeview and pay tv customers

After all the additional channels we have had recently, Sky Atlantic really will be the icing on the cake for me.
Then it'll just be the 'six lanes of programming' to look out for via Netflix and wherever!

Things are getting better!
Although, MTV should be renamed RTV for reality, since that's all it is.

If we aren't getting BT Sports, I wonder if the money saved from ESPN will be used to fund Sky Atlantic now that they have offered it at a more realistic price?
When we do get it, I'm sure that everything that we missed whilst it was not on the VM platform will be repeated (again and again )

We really enjoy VintageTV here, MTV Classic would be another good channel for us.
Fingers crossed it will still come.
On the TV promo for MTV Music coming to 310, Classics logo can be seen with Hits, Base etc.
