Re: The Scottish Football Thread

IF, anything the SPL and SFL should attempted to join forces with the EPL or EFL in an attempt to get financial assistance.

We all know that football clubs in English get far more money from Tv etc than there Scottish partners.

I think the biggest problem is this that for example, why doesn't and ENGLISH club sponsor a Scottish club on a trial basis and any player is groomed by that English club and goes to sign for an even bigger club, then they would get a percentage of his wage, to encourage that club to do more for the clubs in lower league.

for another another football fans know that Crewe, has a lot of players that go onto bigger things through the hard work done by Crewe, then that club should benefit through the whole of that players carreer - if you know what l mean.

Isn't that what happens when players transfer downsouth?

Re: The Scottish Football Thread

No l think more should be done by these clubs to help each other out, the EPL is a billion pound industry, yet clubs from lower league and even in the Scottish league some clubs are playing in grounds that are not fit.

I used to ref game each weeks, but the ground were in very poor conditions, and some of the players l saw could really play PL stuff.

Seriously one of the halfwits in charge of Scottish football, I forget which one, was asked the question of what would happen to Hearts if the worst happens to them and his response was basically "New setup, new rules. We will ask Mr Lawell what he wants us to do*"

*Maybe not the last part but you get the general idea.

Without a Glasgow, Edinburgh or even Dundee derby I would imagine any TV deal would be a hard sell. I can't imagine Sky getting out the extra large cheque book with space for all the zeros when your glamour derby is St. Mirren v Morton.
Expect rules to be made up to ensure Hearts stay in the top flight, assuming they are in a state to do so.

Some crazy claims from Adam Virgo:

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/f...player-1954029

Says he was dropped for a game to accommodate Du Wei so Celtic could make money from Chinese TV. Of course no proof whatsoever and a claim Celtic rightly deny.

“I received death threats on the phone and by post and, of course, the usual stuff from Rangers fans. For some reason footballers are expected to take that or in some way deserve it.” How does he know 100% this was from Rangers fans?

Sounds like he's looking for a new club, but going about it all the wrong way if he wants a move to Scotland.

Because that is the usual stuff from Rangers fans. A lot of them have lost all sense of reality

He doesn't but he will have been brainwashed that anything bad happening to celtic players must be the big bad Rangers fans.

Wouldn't surprise me that celtic played Du Wei to try and earn some money, he certainly wasn't signed for his footballing ability. Maybe they played him in lieu of their mythical Japanese tour that they used as an excuse to shaft Rangers and refused to extend the season a few years back?

I see your grasp of history is green tinted as usual.

Rangers were hit with the fine and player registration embargo after the SFA's independent judicial panel led by Lord Nimmo Smith found the club had brought the game into disrepute.

The SFA said the Ibrox club had been hit with the maximum £50,000 fine for going into administration, or "experiencing an insolvency event". It was also fined £10,000 for breaching the body's rules and the remaining £100,000 of the fine was in relation to breaching rule 66 by bringing the game into disrepute.
Still no news on Dunfermlines fine for going into administration or even the slightest hint of Hearts being accused of bringing the game into disrepute by consistent failures to pay taxes, players etc.

Maybe, just maybe they have realised dumping fines onto struggling teams isn't the best way to about things.

Rangers club motto should be "Bitter as always"

Well that article only states they are on the verge of administration and may be there by the end of the day. It doesn't confirm that the actually ARE in adminstration.

Re: The Scottish Football Thread

Things are looking really bad for Hearts. Whilst the whole squad is up for sale I'm sure many of the Hearts players who have not been paid on numerous occasions could just walk away now from their contract if they wanted to. Hearts have a transfer embargo and face starting the season with -15 points.

Surely the SPL can't allow a club in this state to actually start the season? Isn't their now due diligence measures in place? You'd have to say there is a very good chance that Hearts won't see out the full SPL season.

I understand that this might help the buy-out. Problem before is that they didn't know who owns what.

Though it does put a question mark on the ground. Would make a good supermarket, given its position in centre of gorgie
