Virgin Media Business have won a deal to provide the Backhaul for O2 mobile from BT
Which means they will now provide Backhaul for EE, H3G, O2 & Vodafone.

Re: Virgin Media Business win O2 mobile Backhaul contract
Will they all be on separate networks inside VM so that one network issue doesn't take out all the phone providers at once? Have no idea how the backhaul stuff for mobiles works.
Someone mentioned in another thread something about monopoly or competition issues with VM doing the backhaul for all the operators. Is that really an issue in the mobile data arena?

All of the backhaul circuits are provided on fully diverse systems and are all fully independent of each other.

me too, as I was made redundant when BT Cellnet (which became O2) split off from BT.

Seems like a good business deal, don't think that VMB are taking all the providers mentioned data traffic, maybe these deals are awarded to a few different companys so not exclusive to one provider??? So I wouldn't have thought that would be anything to do with monopolies??? Again not sure about the deal so all maybes at the moment.

So much for some who said VM would wither on the vine and die.

I think this shows they need each other, and can work together.
