How big was the dent in your wallet? I've heard stories of anywhere from £3,000 to £8,000 for a first years quote.

Re: What have you just bought?
It gets better as they get older - when I first put my son on our Ford Fiesta as a named driver, it was around £1200; three years later, it is around £600. My daughter is 25, and her insurance for a 107 is only £350 (as the main driver).

Re: What have you just bought?
Does car insurance quotes differ for age, say a first timer at 17 to a first time driver at 23?

Well the dent for both came to about £860, about £330 for Mrs G's and £550 for Jr - she's 23 on renewal day and as she's been living with her boyfriend for some 18 months I was conned in to adding him on too. She passed her test just after her 18th and we paid a good £1750 on insurance (on top of Mrs G thinking I wouldn't notice the £7K credit card bill when she bought her a six month old KA). Think we're mugs? Well car insurance is just the tip of the iceberg - Mrs G still buys pretty much all their food shopping every week, and I'm normally expected to deliver it too
Cheers

Re: What have you just bought?
Talking of wallets, just got a nice new leather one. Nearly dropped a brick when I saw the prices in Debenhams for them.
