Re: TIVO with SCART
I have an HD slingbox, the TIVO scart appears to output composite(non HD) ok, but I dont seem to be able to get an RGB output for HD quality component output. I have an RGB to component converter. I cannot find anything in the menu about outputs or how to switch them on/configure. I would like both HDMI & RGB to be enabled simultaneously. Help

Re: TIVO with SCART
TiVo should output RGB at all times. You can't turn it off. That said, I haven't checked it recently. Was your TiVo made by Cisco or Samsung?
Incidentally, RGB isn't HD quality, but should be better than composite.
ps. Welcome to the forum!

Re: TIVO with SCART
Very sorry, you are quite correct, checked switching on RGB to component converter box, now correct and working well. Picture is now much superior to composite, so I can watch around the world !! NB TIVO is by Cisco, (which is another matter. often minutes of the dreaded "busy" circle) .

"the dreaded "busy" circle" could also be your signal levels are a bit low, TiVo is very sensitive to lowish signals, moreso than the V Box and V+ Box

You can't get HD Component out of the TiVo. The SCART port only transmits SD Composite and SD RGBs. The last box to have a HD Component output was the Scientific Atlanta V+ box. The only way you are going to get HD Component for your Slingbox is to purchase a HDFury HDMI to Component adapter.
I currently have this setup and currently pass the HD Component through the Slingbox before it goes to my TV. At some point I want to go HDMI through to my TV, for that I'm considering buying a HDMI 1 to 2 splitter connected to the TiVo's HDMI output, one output will go to the HDFury, the other to my TV. I'll have to make sure I buy a HDCP compliant splitter.
In conclusion, you will only get SD out of the SCART port, the only way you'll get HD is out of the HDMI port.
I hope that helps.

Re: TIVO with SCART
I am no expert, but the picture is a lot better with the Keene RGB to component adaptor than it was with composite. It also bypasses protection software if one wanted to record.
The other issue of the busy circle is interesting, as Virgin had, unbeknown to me, connected our house & the neighbour to the same cable off the street. lots of busy circles, also the broadband kept dropping out. I blamed the superhub, even though modem only mode. Eventually they put a 2nd cable in. Broadband now more reliable, but has dropped out but rarely. Still circles but less often & shorter time. I wonder if they connected us together at the edge of the property rather than at the node, or whatever they call it. What sort of signal strength should I have ? On diagnostics broadband signal AGC 79%, tuners seem to be signal AGC 70% 100% &72% the signal strength column says 0 for all.??

AGC values aren't really useful without knowing what it is tuned to and what equipment you have.
If you think you still have a fault, give VM a call and they can check signal quality remotely.

I completely agree that using the RGB output from the SCART socket will give you a better picture than the composite output. However it's only SD.
