I think it just depends what they have got on their vans, don't think there is any particular method of distribution

From a technicians point of view samsung is better as it has better diagnostic software.

The Cisco box feels 50% heavier than the Samsung. Im guessing it must have a bigger psu and the larger sized HDD (has anyone opened one up). *If true that would mean the Samsung is more energy efficient but the cisco would be slightly quieter

Cisco is heavier because they use a larger PCB with a lot of metalwork to support it, and the construction of the case is different. They both use 3.5" hard drives, and there's very little difference in power consumption.

one thing engineer said is 1tb boxes are more likely to be cisco one than samsung ones where as 500gb ones are mainly samsungs

well i think replacement box is on it way out only had it 2 days constant buzzing then goes off for so long and comes back very noticeable when nothing else is on in my bedroom. it sound like too much power going to it will see what engineer says tomoz
