I would suggest to anyone, if you plan to go to Sky - DON'T. ( I am sure there are people out there who will say - is this Arthur talking, yes it is, and l don't like being ripped off.
Sky even told us that the dish was there's, well it isn't as we bought it 5 years ago.

Well I got Sky Tv in last week on a 50% off code, new box installed and new dish and cable, now have all my sky sports in HD ( important to me), the box is quick but not as good all round as TiVo ( which I still have in another room), the series links are hopeless ( it schedules programme clashes BTW, that's good init?)
There's only about 250gb for personal recording the rest is for on demand.

One thing coming soon to Virgin: A stinking letter of complaint from me about the CS. Hope new owners sort it out, last 5 days have been the worst with Virgin. Told one thing Friday, told another today.

We were being charged for the full package including Sports and were going to be charged £60.00 for the lot.
My god how wrong we were, We should have had new dish and cable plus new boxes. The engineer told us that we would have to wait three days for anytime Tv to come on and also the broadband.
The engineer arrived, and No free dish as we had one on the wall, no cable, as it was already there, and the boxes were secondhand.
We called Sunday to see how much longer to wait for everything - this was the bombshell.
We were told it would cost us £21.00 to have BB connected, and we would have to buy two routers costing £15.00 each, and we would have to subscribe to BT Open reach for the BB also at £15.00 per month.

I must say Arthur, you really did have a bit of bad luck there. In my experience of Sky, I must admit I was never treated anywhere near that badly. As a new customer, I got all my discounts and new, free equipment. I am not entirely sure why they would treat a new customer like that. Perhaps you just got a mis-informed CS rep.

The 250GB personal space still provides the same HD recording capacity (60hrs) as the TIVO 500GB as it uses mpeg 4 , I agree with you about the schedule management the Sky box needs it , as a workaround I schedule all my recordings via the Sky+ app on ipad as this automatically alerts you too clashes and provides an alternative airing. Clash management has been suggested many times in the beta forum as has an improved search function (TIVOs is excellent) however rest assured there are a couple of new things due in the not too distant future and 4oD should be added real soon completing the catchup section.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.
Coming Soon to Virgin Media Vol 2 (2013) will launch on Cable Forum on April 1st 2013.
The following is an Joke I was told on Sunday.
''In the bid for more viewers UKTV are set to close GOLD and put all the shows into WATCH and rebrand WATCH as Gold Watch.''

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.
well it looks like bye bye to ESPN America If BT sports isn't included as part of the XL package there is NO WAY I can afford to pay extra. VM already gets in excess off £100pm from me on the VIP package and as much as I'll miss my college football I have reached my limit

No BT deal has been signed with Virgin Media - yet. But it looking unlikely that BT Sport Package will be free on the XL Package.
I for one will not be paying BT Sports any money the SPL games - I only watch ESPN when Motherwell, Celtic or Rangers games are on.

Ditto. Already looking at how to cut our costs - it's a ridiculous amount of money for TV...

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.
Look out for the half price movies and sports offer. Need to have sports and movies off for 30 days before you can have the half price offer, which ends Thursday.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.
Then l think the signs for BT Sports at even this early stage are rather ominous as people are already paying enough for their premium Sky Sports packages.

The Sky + app does help when you're at home but it doesnt work away from home, (Tivo's does)
