Whut?

Am pretty sure the type of anonymity suggested is for keeping the accused and their reputation alive and in good standing while the case is tried, not to keep them safe from prosecution.
I would agree that that would be a good idea. Name and shame them once a guilty plea has been reached trial by media means no one gets a fair trial

i will wait for a trial before making a judgement - and i don't think any accused person should be named until after they have been found guilty by a court of law .

Re: Corries Kevin up on child rape charges

The only issue is if naming them encourages others to come forward. Saville would probably never have been discovered under such a system as each individual accusation would have likely have not been been enough to pursue him. Then again he got away with it anyway so...

but there have already been celebs named in operation yewtree as far as I am aware none of them have been charged. But their character has been called into question. What about compo and a large public apology for those found to be not involved?

Re: Corries Kevin up on child rape charges

It's a balancing act whether or not to name them or not to and i can see reasons on both sides to support their arguments. If i am honest i say no name should be given until a conviction is obtained that way if there are other victims they will come forward safe that a conviction has happened and they will not be at a disadvantage from the start. What such a policy would definitely do is prevent knee jerk public reaction based on an accusation and nothing more. We have seen on this very forum how people have reacted and whilst it is understandable because it involves a child i would rather wait till he has been found guilty before i put forward my opinion on his punishment.

Too many people in the past have been accused had their names plastered here, therre and everywhere and they were innocent trouble is a reputation takes years to make and can be undone for all time in a matter of minutes now we have the internet.

You can guarantee compo on a grand scale will be the order of the day for those NOT found guilty of any wrong doing. We as the tax payer are the ones who will pay those sums out.

And they should get it though imagine sitting there being question about being a nonce knowing you are innocent and knowing the public know you are there. It must be awful

I think at the very least no one should be named until charged with an offence at the very least. Just being taken in for questioning or helping with enquiries should not be public
