Does anyone have a Samknows white box? I'm curious as to what they are trying to achieve. According to the blah they're working with Ofcom to monitor the uselessness of your broadband connection. The box is a TP-Link (looks like a router). Any thoughts?

If it's anything like the original trial (using a Linksys router) which is still ongoing.Comment: All the data we collect will be analysed over time to build a detailed picture of the service being delivered.

I believe it was the luck of the draw!Names out of a hat for the numbers required in each area, and speed ranges covered.

I have one and it measures speed connected directly to the router, it determines when there's little or no traffic so as to get an accurate measurement.

Just received an email from them detailing the first month's statistics. Not very interesting to read as I can login to see my connection stats when I choose to. Hopefully it might, in time anyway, lead to an improvement in the service.

 | Not always! I had an issue I reported and vowed and declared there was a problem - turns out it was a problem with the equipment/site misreporting speeds!

I've recently received a SamKnows White Box having signed up for the ISP monitoring trial. However I haven't connected it yet as my wife has expressed concern over data security with the White box inserted.
Does anyone know of any security issues with regard to the SamKnows White Box? I have Googled but nothing seems to have been raised regarding this.

 | I have used one for a year or 2 and have seen no issues with security

Any thoughts? | It has been going on for a few years yet the combined results per isp have never been made public, which is what I had wanted to see. So I am thinking it is more about selling the results to those willing to pay. The pingtest.net website has never published its results either which gave me the same opinion on them wanting to sell the info.

Would love to be wrong and see the stats made available to all.
