TIVO Hard Drive Question!

Hi folks, i cancelled my virgin tv about 6 months ago due to losing my job.
I still have the 500gb tivo box in the loft despite several attempts to get virgin to take it back.

Ive now found a guy selling bush freeview recorders on ebay for £20 they just need a hard drive installing, i miss not being able to record TV, and as virgin dont seem to want their box back i thought i might take out the tivo hdd and use it in this.

What i wanted to ask is does anybody know if the tivo hdd contains any type of encryption or will i just beable to format it in the bush recorder?

Moneys still tight so would rather not just blow £20. Any advice would be greatly appreiciated, thanks.

Re: TIVO Hard Drive Question!

I'm surprised Virgin Media haven't sent you a bill to replace it yet, as you haven't returned it. I believe the replacement charge for TiVo is somewhere around £250

I'm surprised they haven't arranged a date to pick it up because lets face it they arrange a date to come and install it....but wait, the customer was going to spend money each month then, but now?.......

Equipment collections are prompted to be arranged on the system whenever services are disconnected

Yup, I'm aware of that.

But I've seen it on the system myself, whenever a service is fully disconnected, the agent is prompted to either arrange postal collection or a manned collection of the kit as appropriate. I'm pretty sure you can't complete the disconnection order without doing so.

Re: TIVO Hard Drive Question!

Well that's obviously not the problem, then. But that doesn't mean there isn't one.

Re: TIVO Hard Drive Question!

And the op does say despite several attempts, you will probably find it is to much hassle for someone. I think if Virgin have made no physical attempt to recollect it after 6 months you should be in your rights to claim it as your own property and just chuck it in the bin.
