10% packet loss

Not sure if this is anything to be overly concerned about, but according to JDAST, between 15:00 and 17:00, daily I am getting 10% packet loss, a huge increase in jitter and ping, and my speed drops to 15mb/sec.

I can't say I've noticed this, until I started running JDAST.

Is it something worthy of being concerned over?

Re: 10% packet loss

Yes. It's best to ruun JDAST in conjunction with the TBB graph because then there are two sources.

I also look particularly at the upstream power levels at the time of aberration to see if they're fluctuating.

On the face of it and at great distance from you, I'd suspect upstream noise ingress caused by something kicking in in your house or a neighbour's house or something like that.

I've noted that your downstream speed drops and if the packet loss is not on the upstream then it has to be a heck of a local utilisation spike to cause 10% packet loss.

Does JDAST report lower upstream speeds?

Re: 10% packet loss

Indeed, if you can replicate the packet loss via any other method (personally I prefer ping to pretty graphs) then you've got a serious problem.

Re: 10% packet loss

Ironically, sods law is in full effect, since making my original post, the packet loss disapeared, however, I will continue to monitor and will report back if it changes again.

Thanks for the replies thus far.
