Apart from the BBC ones above I doubt I could reel off the channel numbers of any of the channels I record from. So changing them will just mean there are a whole host of new numbers that I won't have a need to remember.....once I've gone and set up my series links again for any channels that do have their number changed

Your series link will be fine after the renumbering.

...are we talikng just a few changes here or a complete rehash of the EPG?

I'd like to see a complete shuffle. Starting in the 900's, then working through the 800's and then down the list, say a week at a time.
I'd like to see the channels listed in groups - SD/HD/+1 - with gaps left for those we don't have yet.
Plus I'd like to be informed of the changes. If it wasn't for this forum, the first we'd know would be when we couldn't find the channels in the usual place. There's a message system on the Tivo - please, VM, use it to keep us informed!

I did and Can confirmed that some Channels numbers in next weeks copy of 'Radio Times' will be out of date late next week.

Whichever renumbering they decide upon it will still not please everyone. As far as I'm concerned it'll mean learning the new EPG layout. Having had the current list for years it'll be a minor inconvenience to adjust to the revised layout. My hope is that they don't make a habit of changing, that could be an irritation

The two aren't mutually exclusive. It's been a while since the last time they re-organised the channels, and with some channels being dropped and some new ones being added there are some channels that ought to be grouped together that are quite far apart (SyFy and SyFy HD as a good example).
