Question Help with Router Please

I have a Virgin Media Super Hub, and have just had to send my computer away to be repaired as it had got into some kind of loop thing and would not boot up, just kept going back to checkdisk. anyway, I am having to re-install some of my programs, and I use a program called PF Config which configures my router for me!
However, I can't remember which is the right model number on my router, which I need to put in when installing. There are about five options to choose from, but my router has both the numbers on it, so I don't know which one it is, I can't find a version on it anywhere either.
Can anyon please help
My router is the Vergin Media Superhub
The numbers on my router are:
VMDG480
and
CG3101D
with no version or numbers after them

The model numbers I have to choose from are as follows
CG3101D R36
CG3101D v2.37.01
CG3101D v5.5.2R30
VMDG480 R36
VMDG480 v2.37.01

it's driving me nuts!

Re: Help with Router Please

At a guess I'd go for the last one on your list, but maybe wait to see if anyone else posts a response.

Re: Help with Router Please

You don't need to install anything

Just go to the routers IP address 192.168.x.x

The X numbers should be on the back of the router.

Re: Help with Router Please

It should be VMDG480 v2.37.01 as the R37 firmware should have been released now so your good to go with that one.

Re: Help with Router Please

The shub are made by Netgear and the CG numbers are Netgears model number for it. Because it is then customised by VM they give it their own model number which is the VMDG480. The v/r bit is the latest version or revision firmware which happens to be r37 atm.

Like Homer said though, you can access the router setup by going to 192.168.0.1 and configure everything from there yourself. I wouldn't trust a 3rd party ap to do it for me.

Re: Help with Router Please

Hi everyone, I have finally managed to sort it out! I am not very good with technical stuff, but with a little help, I finally did it. I got into my router by doing as suggested. My model number is CD3101D R36, but the reason I could not get it to work is because I was also unsure of the IP address I should be using. I knew the routers IP, but it said I could not use that one. The one I finally realised I had to put in was my own computers internal IP, and then choose the numbers I wanted to use to open the ports, and add the program.
Somebody gave me a couple of links. One was port forwarding .com, which is where I bought the program that configures the router for me, but obviously I have to put in the correct ports and IP etc. I have used this program for years and it's always worked great for me and it has great support too.
The other link they gave me was this one.
http://www.canyouseeme.org/
which checks if the ports are open, when you have put them into your router. (very handy)
Once I had put in the correct IP and the 2 ports I wanted to use, it finally showed the ports were open! Thank you everybody for all the help, I would never have done it without you
regards, Linda
