re: Operation Yewtree
I am confused now. Saville was a nonce operation Yewtree I thought was an investigation into nonces but now it appears it is covering sexual assault of adults to. It seems strange to me that anyone including the Police are bundling different offences into the same operation
JD was not arrested as a possible nonce the accusers are in their 20s

Pretty standard. The hacking enquiry covers all variants of information being obtained or disclosed improperly.
I'd imagine this started with Saville and has now become a generic historical enquiry into sexual offences by celebrities.

I think we are at a stage now when women with axes to grind are perhaps coming out the woodwork. JD is and always was a slapper putting it about I can imagine how some tarts from years ago might have issues with him.(Not saying this is the case of course) Rape must be pretty much impossible to prove 20 years down the line ?

re: Operation Yewtree
That's the problem. A lot of people will make claims, especially against famous people, and it would be a brave or foolish cop to dismiss the claims in the current climate.
Rape claims are always difficult to prosecute, in most cases it's down to one word against another, which is why conviction rates are so low.

Men can't "put it about" with women, unless there are women "putting it about".
A mere accusation, especially with this Operation Yewtree thing, is treated as "proof".

how is that correct? any man with the gift of the gab and the looks could be sleeping with as many women as he wants and each woman might be faithful to him.Same as any woman with a good cleavage and nice bottom could with a dozen men. It would not follow that JD being a womanizer only slept with slappers

re: Operation Yewtree
Caroline Robinson (Saviles great niece) says that back in the days when he abused her, people often turned a blind eye. Surprisingly, she maintained that it is still going on today.
I have had a meeting with our company legal team this morning about something totally unconnected with this subject.
After the meeting I had a coffee with the woman who deals with children/family/abuse issues.
She told me some tales that, quite frankly, shocked me and confirmed what Caroline Robinson said on This Morning.
It appears that, however much we all like to think that we would do something about paedophilia if we came across it, many people simply can't believe what they are seeing and/or just can't cope with it and block it out of their minds.
Maybe that's why Savile was allowed to get away with it for so long?

CBeebies has apologised after a character from the children's TV programme The Tweenies appeared dressed as disgraced TV presenter Jimmy Savile.

re: Operation Yewtree
I think there's been a little too much synthetic outrage over this little slip-up. Saville was a national icon, references to him are all over our popular culture. Unless the production notes for that episode of Tweenies specifically stated that it included Max doing a Saville impression, there would be no reason for the channel controller or anyone else connected with the process to see the need to vet the episode first. After all, it was made 11 years ago and has been repeated endlessly since then.

re: Operation Yewtree
I was watching Top of the Pops the story of '78 last night on BBC4 and the time and trouble the producers must have gone through to make sure that JS wasn't in any of the clips must have been enormous .People need to realise that erasing someone from history who was an everyday face back then and appeared in all sorts of programs ,news items, posters, and radio shows isn't that easy

re: Operation Yewtree
I've recently seen Savile on several repeats of old TOTP episodes being shown on a cable channel. I must say it doesn't make easy viewing...
