Superhub : Slow speeds after 60M upgrade

Just upgraded to 60m from 30m, when I was on 30m I almost nearly always got 30m but the other day I upgraded to 60m and now I'm strugling to get even 30m. I have had the email to say my upgrade is now complete and have rebooted my modem loads of times.

My speeds range from 5m to 25m, this is my best speedtest so far: -



Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

What Modem have you got?

Try our Speed test and post the results:-

Consider that at peak periods you may see lower speeds, also if you have been downloading a lot, you may have been traffic managed which can reduce your speed.

If you do not think the above applies to you and If you are seeing these pitiful speeds consistently, I'd get back on to Virgin Media.

how very interesting. Tbh dude I had the same problem when I went from 50mbits u pto 100. My speed tests dropped from 49 mbits (on 50) down to 36mbits (on 100). Have you tried doing any downloads on torrents or newsgroups to see what your max download speed is? I could still get full speed even though speed tests results said otherwise.

Are you on a laptop or PC...

Have you check for viruses and Windows files for corruption.

Question... Age of the computer - does this matter!

(does a modern 64 bit i3 to i7 processor with DDR2 or DDR3 ram chips... or DDR2 to DDR3 HD graphics card.. gigabit ethernet card... SATA HD drive)

compared to a

32 bit Pentium 4... DDR(1) ram.. PATA HD etc.. etc..

Surely the modern machine will process the data a lot faster.

rubbish dude. One of my PCs is an athlon dual core 4200, 3gb ram, 256mb 8800GT and sata 150 hdds and it can handle 12mb/sec no probs.

The other thing I am thinking of though. I don't suppose the op is connecting wirelessly on 802.11g?

Those PC stats mean nothing, if that system has a 802.11b wireless card.

it does dude because the previous post was in the context of age of machine/specs vs throughput capability. If you are talking wireless then it doesnt matter what machine you have, 802.11g is only every going to be as fast as 802.11g.

It's a fairly top end spec pc I'm using, anyway thanks all for the input but there must have been an issue in my area that was not showing on the status page as I could not have been traffic managed as I don't download to much and after doing another test tonight this is my result: -
