British Gas to raise its gas and electricity prices

British Gas to raise its gas and electricity prices.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19912951

Quote:
British Gas is due to announce increases to its gas and electricity charges on Friday, the BBC understands.

It is expected to raise its charges for both by about 8%, adding £100 a year to the average dual fuel bill.

The increase is expected to come into effect in about one month.
Not the news us customers want to hear.

I made a decision 5 years ago never to use British gas as long as my bottom has a hole in it . That was because they were then and still are the most expensive power company in the UK and there customer service is the worst i have ever experienced from a UK company.

The trouble is every other power company always follows suit.

Agreed, however British gas leaves a bad taste in my mouth because of there terrible customer service. I would move to coal before i would have gas from them.

makes no odds mate they are all the same

Quote:
Its rival SSE, which trades as Scottish Hydro, Swalec and Southern Electric, has already said it will raise its prices by an average of 9% from Monday The rest of the big six energy suppliers are expected to follow British Gas and SSE's lead this year, except for Eon, which promised not to do so this year, so will have to wait until January at the earliest .
give with one hand and take away with another

Quote:
British Gas last raised its tariffs in August 2011, when gas prices went up by 18% and electricity prices by 16%.
Then in January 2012, it cut its electricity prices by 5%.

I do a comparison check on gas and electric and BG is always at least £80 per year more expensive than EDF which for me is the cheapest.

A little while ago I did the same but the other way. I went to BG from EDF as BG was the cheapest at that time and I got a further 6% for doing an online tariff. I am now sort of tied to BG until December when they will pay me another £50 the first being paid this November.

After the payments they will not see me for dust. I am not tied in with a 12 / 24 Month contract apart the promise to pay £100.00 I could leave today but loose out on the dosh...

And as usual the energy sheep follow one another.

Quote:
Npower has joined rivals British Gas in announcing it is increasing gas and electricity prices in the UK.

Npower will increase the price of gas by an average of 8.8% and electricity by 9.1% from 26 November.

Balls, I am with nPower. Might have to do a check to see if anywhere else is cheaper. Although the rebate each December is handy from nPower. Last year it was over £300!

Re: British Gas to raise its gas and electricity prices

What really angers me is that on www.skynews.co.uk it was stated that the CEO's of the two energy companies that put there prices prices ip are on a staggering £380.000 per year and are due to get a ONE MILLION POUND BONUS, now if that is a kick in the nuts, l don't know what is - and all they do is play golf, sip coffee all day and run a company.

I am sure you would be up to the task.

Re: British Gas to raise its gas and electricity prices

They get up at 7.30 got to work in a chauffeur driven car, read The Times, to see when they are going to get more money, play golf, watch tv, and go to a meeting of other pen pushers, then go home to a club get drunk and then go home to the wife and family and then bed - can't be bad for £300.000 per year.
